You could just replace the part for cheap.

Breaking parts is commonplace in the hobby....I've spent a lot of money on things I've broke haha

I hope this works out well, this is not a good reason to be leaving the hobby...

yeah dude the shop will most likely not return it but i mean if they do they will probably also charge you some for the part and because its a bit worn.

Just buy a new part and be done with it.

With this hobby breaking things is commonplace and its what its all about, you break something, you upgrade and fix it.

Tell your dad this and if he doesnt beleive you tell him to come on here, we will tell him

come to think of it he sounds like my 90 year old grandma who expects nothing to ever break

tell him to go put his false teeth in and watch wheel of fortune

then go to the hobby shop and buy the RPM bulkhead

so im guessing you broke the bulkhead on your traxxas xl5??

whats that to replace with a stock peice, like $10

or buy the rpm one or even the golden horizons on integy alloy one, you will never break one again.

I've spent more on a RC than I have on my real car

it would be sad to lose the bandit. all it needs is a new bulkhead and camber link. the suspension arm (a-arm) is fine. the bulk head broke where the pin goes through it, but the a-arm itself is intact.

thats the hobby. spend money on the truck, drive it hard, break something, replace and upgrade as you go!

the part # for what you need are:
2530a -bulkhead
and 2444 -upgraded camber link.

these part numbers are for the VXL edition. they are alittle tougher than the ones that came on your truck but will fit your bandit perfectly. they shouldnt cost more than $15 for both parts. you can get them off ebay or at hobby shops.

You gotta tell him how you want to fix it yourself with his help of course. I love working on my cars with my kids (and they're only 4 and 6). When the toolbox comes out, my 2 assistants come running.

agreed. but the other end is true also. if he wants his dad to fix it FOR him, that can be irritating for the dad. I will be thrilled when my son is old enough to enjoy the hobby with me. but i have no intention of fixing his cars for him. ill help him figure out what to do, but he will be the one turning the wrench!

Your dad is the reason we live in the disposable society we do.

Hopefully he gets a nice, long lecture about how hobby grade RC cars are not the terds you buy at Wally World.

Good luck, bud, hopefully your dad sees the light and you can get back to bashing your Rustler and break even more parts.

You should have downloaded the manual, removed the broken part and said "dad, I need to get a paper route so I can pay for this broken part".

Tell your Dad that hobby grade RC's aren't little toys that cost 30 bucks. A 150-200 dollar beginner RC is not something you break a suspension arm and toss it in the trash. You break the part, go buy a new one, and slap it on there, then go drive! Who knows, when your dad realized it, he may wanna join you!

It was the opposite for my son and myself, he would break the car or plane and want to sell it or take it back. I would talk him into fixing it. those were some of our best times together. he is married now with a little one of his own and looking forward to doing the same. (Grandpa might beat him to it tho) He still comes out flying with me every now and again.
R/C cars and planes break, its in the rules. (has to be) just fix it and and have some more fun.
Actually, fixing em and seeing your work pay off is one of the greatest rewards in this hobby.

Lmfao, thats pretty weak but if you cant handle it, you cant. this hobby isnt for everybody, sure this forum is 300,000+ members strong but its not for everybody. also with 17 posts it doesnt say very much about you. also if your old man is supporting your hobby thats another story, he has other things to pay for, like food and clothes and everything else, then he's gotta pay to repair your r/c car aswell?, i would wait untill you can buy one your self, and fix it your self

I can't really see a father buying a son  a traxxas rc then telling him that it goes back when things break. how old are you, can you do some extra work for the parts, some kind of extra chores or job? Ask him what you can do to keep it. If that fails I'll make sure the parts come to your door if it's only the parts 'nitrosportsandrunner' says.

So how long did you run it before you broke it.  It seems to me that he was upset that you managed to break something so fast, that cost him his hard earned money.  Its a matter of understanding the value of a dollar.  Sounds like the lesson here.  As you learn to drive these things your going to be pushing harder, faster, higher.  Just understand that its not your money, its his.
