slash 4x4 mamba pro sct or mamba monster
Hello
Im either going to get a mamba monster or a mamba pro sct 2400kv. I need to know the pros and cons of each, which one will be better for what i want. Ive done some research and the monster seems overkill, im looking for around 60 mph on 3s and maybe 70 or so on 4s. Is the monster to much for what i want, i dont need anything over 70. Im leaning towards the sct, but since its newer is there any bugs yet to be worked out any of you have experienced. Im also going to need help with the gearing, is 19/52 good for what i want with 3s on the sct. I need some help if i spend the money i want to make sure i get the right set up with some good speed andpower, i mostly just bash around and do a few speed runs, never really run on the track.
Thanks

The MMP SCT is just a restickered MMP so it's not really all that "new". Other than the BEC issues depending on what servo you run MMP should be plenty.
Although as stated above me not sure on those speeds, but that would depend more on the rest of your setup and less about whether you choose the MMM or MMP.

I would get the mamba monster if your bashing ...... Overkill power on tap is a no brainer IMO ..... plus that motor will push truggys , buggies , and MTs so it's pretty versatile

isnt the mamba monster 1/8 scale?
isnt the mamba monster 1/8 scale?
If money is no object get the Monster, but if you are on any type of budget the MMP will do just fine in a Slash 4x4 as some people use them in 1/8th scale applications also.
From what I've read people seem to like the MMP and Neu 1410 in the Slash 4x4, but I've also heard good things about the MMP SCT combo (Neu 1415 motor).

If you go with the monster maxx you will need to go with alum motor mount and diff. THe monster shredded the stock set-up in mine on 4s

I have only snapped the axles once. I only run on dirt though. I am sure on pavement they would snap often..

Be sure also to only run the slipper clutch and not center diff with that amount of power or you'll destroy the drivetrain. Traxxas even recommends not using center diff with their VXL motor on 3S, it can't handle the RPM. I just run 2S on my Slash 4x4 Ult and since its a bash racer, I use the center diff.

Thank you guys,
Im going to get the mamba monster( i want that power haha can't wait). Will that directly fit into the slash without mods at all? i know i need the esc mounting plate but is that it? and also are MIP X-Duty cvds good driveshafts?

I don't know much about the different power systems, but If you want to go 60 or 70mph I would recommend getting an aftermarket, non SC one because the stock one isn't good aero dynamically and at those speeds the car will feel very floaty. You could also just put on a wing.

I know the mamba monster max drops right in without mods.

W T F? Uhh a mamba system will take that thing to 60-70mph EASILY. Xtreme RC magazine got a stock 4x4 with a mamba up to 80mph

pushing a short course body at those speeds takes a heck of a lot more power than a buggy
maybe you should get your dad to sponsor this guy!
