Electric should have specified. ive been in nitro for a few years and i get enough of my nitro fix through my savages. im looking for the charge and go fun. ive been looking at 4x4s but not really sure if its the way to go is there a huge difference in performance?

from the 4wd vs the 2wd perfromance
from the 4wd vs the 2wd perfromance
4wd is easier to handle/drive but more complex to maintain in comparison to 2wd. 2WD is tougher to master and thus teaches you to be a better driver. A good driver with 2wd will kick a noob with a 4WD and vice versa. Sure, track type and truck setup matters but in the end, the driver is the biggest variable. As far as pure "performance" there is no clear winner as it will depend on how you drive the truck and where, simple as that.
Then again, a 4WD will do better in rough terrain vs a 2WD for obvious reasons. 2WD slash and blitzs couldn't keep up with our Slash 4x4s during our snow racing this winter. You don't see 2WD rock crawlers for the same reason. You also don't see 4WD in drag racing either

If your just bashing and your a savage lover like me you can't go wrong with a slash 4x4 . It kind of reminds me of a savage when doing clean up and maintenance . Plus it will handle 1/8 scale motors no problem ........... I haven't found it yet but theres a Hpi logo somewhere on that truck

RE: short course selection
3S is most certainly ill advised. You can get PLENTY of power and speed out of that motor that comes in the truck stock. You just need a 24t pinion and an 84t spur.

RE: short course selection
The only RPM part I have on my SC10 is the bumper. My SC10 has been more than solid out of the box so far. I am sure I just jinxed myself

RE: short course selection
My son and I each have SC10s and we love them. Nitro way is right though, at the very least it needs the RPM front bumper/skid plate and front arms. My son has broken both stock arms in the front so I did the bumper and front a arms on his car. I also broke a front arm and ended up doing front and rear arms, bumper /skid, and rear hub carriers on my car. I actually broke a RPM front arm too. Overall they've been great cars, the trannies have been bulletproof. We run em hard ! I keep a chassis and the rear chassis hinge pin plate along with the chassis top plate on hand because he's broken each of those. The plastic used for those parts is very stiff and light, you will break them if you hit hard enough but that's a small price to pay because they make the car handle awesome. We just bash and beat the snot out of these cars with high kV brushless motors and 2s and 3s LiPos and haven't broken any drivetrain parts.
