I agree TBJ. The hazmat fee's on what plutonium i did order were astronomical so i have to settle with some astrolly AR600, A-514 T-1, and some 4140 heat treat. I hope it will be enough.
Should arrive this week.

Why you going with clutch and mech brakes? Just curious...

More and more racers are dropping them I'm hearing, you'll also shed a fair amount of rotating mass, make the power feel much more direct, not to mention the obvious overall weight saving of ditching a servo and a whole bunch of brake hardware...just get a long shank pinion and you're away.

By the way, stock up on CVD bones.

I want to try it out and feel to see if it is benefical or not. I am a old school nitro burner and think i will like the free wheel effect. We will see, if not i will just go direct drive. Using the clutch steup i have read saves
60 or so degrees worth of motor heat fron not using the motor for braking. I am now waiting on a external BEC as the MMM internal BEC will not power any 79xx series hi-tec servos. GRRR!!! Here is the email from
Greg from Castle concerning the BEC.

Chip,
The problem is that your servo is too much for the internal BEC of the Monster to handle. The Hitec 79XX-series is high-voltage, needing a minimum 6V input to operate, and the Monster only outputs 5.4V. Since the voltage is below spec, the servo is using all of the available power for the receiver, causing the problems you are having. Castle recommends the use of the CC BEC 10A external BEC, which will handle the chores of just about any single servo, receiver, and accessories such as a personal transponder or lighting kit with no problem.

If you have any further questions, please e-mail or call the Tech Support line below.

Well, Finally got the conversion complete. Took it out in the yard fo a few blast through the grass.. Pretty impressed to say the least. Suprisingly fast, moreso than expected.. I believe 10K in the center diff may not be enough as it just ripped the front tires. I run 10k center in my nitro 2.0 but may have to go up in this one. I will leave it alone till i can hit the track with it to see.. But really pleased so far.. I already like the feel of the clutch system, reacts like a nitro free spooling on off throttle. I have to go back through and locktite all necessary screws as i did a test fit to be sure i had no binding and everything fit well. Will post running video and finall set-up...
