i fully charged my battery and it lasted about 20-30 minutes before the motor and battery got really hot then lost power like the battery died. Is this normal?I charge my battery for 4 hours and it last 30 minutes?doesnt seem right but i dont know. thanks

RE: motor and battery
what kind of battery (exp. lipo, nimh.etc)? this will make a differance and yes run time is about 20 to 30 if you run it hard bashing around. the higher the mah the longer it will last. as for the heat the stock motors do get very warm its normal. buy good lipo's to get better run times and a good charger will only take about an hr to charge.

RE: motor and battery
the battery is nimh 3000 mah
someone on a traxxas forum told me the motor comes overgeared from the factory. so you may be right. he suggested getting a smaller pinion.
i think i will get a new battery (lipo) and a smaller pinion and see how that works out.
and thanks for the welcome!

RE: motor and battery
Thats pretty good for a 3000, a NiMh will improve with each charge for the first 5 or 6 charges.
Usually takes a few charges to reach its full potential.
If you do go Lipo, youve got to have a Lipo compatable charger.
Get one with a built in balancer also.

oh really? hmm well thats good to know. i thought something was wrong but i guess not.
i will make sure to do that. what exactly does the balancer do?
and about how much longer of a run time will i get by upgrading to lets say a 2s lipo w/ 7.4 volts?
