For Racing: Losi TEN SCTE RTR or roller?
Hey guys. I'm planning on racing 4wd mod short course come this spring. I have come down to the TEN-SCTE as a good competitor down at the track. I just have a dilemma; should I go RTR or roller? If I was to go RTR, then it would be pretty straight forward as to what comes with the car. I'm looking to find out which one would be the better competitor straight out of the box without needing any major electronics upgrades. I'm fine upgrading servos, but when it comes to big items like motors and ESC's, thats where I start to look at other options. So if I was to get a roller, I would be running:
ROLLER:
Flysky FSGT3C Tx/Rx
Valuehobby Gforce 4 pole brushless 2865kv motor:http://www.valuehobby.com/power-syst...ner-motor.html
Hobbywing EZRun SC10 Short Course truck ESC:http://www.valuehobby.com/power-syst...zrun-sc10.html
Towerpro MG996r Servo:http://www.valuehobby.com/radio-syst...ard-servo.html
as opposed to the RTR
RTR:
Spektrum DX3e + SR300 Tx/Rx
550 size brushless 2800kv motor:http://losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdId=LOSB9444
MSC MCPro ESC:http://losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdId=LOSB9504
MSX Digital High-Torque Servo
So out of the Roller vs RTR, which one would be better for out of the box performance which won't need major upgrades (motors, ESC, etc)?

RE: For Racing: Losi TEN SCTE RTR or roller?
The SCTE RTR is about as good as they get for an RTR. It's also a great value now that they are being discounted due to the ver 2.0 coming out in a couple days. With that said, I think the stock motor is a bit too low of a KV rating to run on 2 cells. It's a "race ready" truck yet they still have catered to the 3 cell basher crowd, so in that area it's a slight compromise. A friend of mine raced his brand new RTR last night for the first time, It did quite well, but it can't compare to my Roller which I have equipped with a Tenshock 4600 KV sensored motor, it just flat rips. It's borderline 1/8th scale performance as long as the straightaway isn't too long.
