Never have ran one myself, They do look solid for an older RC.

I got a few newer ones that I bet would crush it durability wise (talking head on collision here )
I'm guessing most of its durability comes from how light it looks as its pretty simple design wise so when you hit something less kinetic energy to dissipate.

but yea that looks pretty rough I've bought a few used RC's that were in way worst shape then they looked. I remember my 1st RC the RS4 nitro MT1. pictures it looked great, and was described as runs good. Ran great for 5 mins till the engine heated up and lost compression, and all the plastic was so brittle from I'm guessing where it was stored that every time I ran it something would snap in half from the most mild of hits. Got a box of MT1 parts for like $40 turns out it had a whole RC in the box(in pieces) assembled it and its durability was way better as it seems the guy stored it in a place that didn't cause the plastic to get brittle.

Then I got my 1/8th truggy pics it looked perfect got it the sucker had to have at least 1lb of clay in it. Clay was literally everywhere he even got it some how into the diffs which are sealed... I'll be honest I thought he pulled the ole switcheroo but I looked VERY closely at the pics and noticed a few deep scratches were identical on them both which was a tell tale sign it was the same RC, but I'm guessing he ran it into the ground after the pics were taken. Luckily after 4 hours of cleaning it with a tooth brush I got it operational.

the 2 peice allow chassis that is tubed gives it great strength

all the new stuff is either plastic or flat alloy with some sort of brace

in a head on crash the worst i have ever had to do is replace the 2 nose brace tubes and bend the nose plate back

the other thing it has over any new rc is even out of the box the parts are a softer nylon plastic
i have yet to have a a-arm snap from a landing or crash
(had a few bent hinge pins)
the traxxas stuff is close but thier parts are a bit to soft (i can almost bend my bandits shock tower in half)

the only broken plastics i have dealt with
are the carriers where the ball studs go in
but 90% of the time the fialure there is some builder got a bit torque happy and overtightend the ballstuds causing a crack or over stressed part

weight wise they are pretty heavy compared to the new stuff due to the thick alloy chassis
wich is why the new stuff is better for the track but not by much

i had some vids on here a long time ago(when i first joined) of one with a 9t brushed motor and its still working great and have not broken any parts on it
