Suggestions on what car or buggies can have throttle response slowed right down?
Just sorted out some cars for the big kids in my family now for my young grandson.
The 1/16 4wd drive mini rally extreme cars we have are way to fast for my grandson. I have tried to tame the throttle down but to no effect. I have the HK-GTX2 controller, happy to look at buying any other controller if that give me the flexibility of adjusting the speed range down. I realise it may be a combination of controller, ESC etc.
What ideally I am looking to do is set my grandson up with a car that will enable me to initially really damp the throttle response down so he can learn over time to drive the car and not just smash into everything and bust stuff. Once he has the gist of drive with controller then allow me to RE-range the throttle response as he grows.
I don' t mind paying for the flexibility of having the control as I described above so if I need to buy special controller, ESC and or car. Looking to see if this is achievable using the HK range of products first. If there are other brands that tick the boxes I am after it would be good to find out about those too.
probably an unusual request folks as most are looking to speed these things up rather than slowing them right down.
Thanks and regards,
Fleetz

What if you swapped the motor out for a slower one? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_2030kv.html
that motor should be about half speed of the stock one. There are few that would work from hobbyking,
as he gets better you could bump up the pinion a bit until you are ready to switch back to the stock motor. or maybe get a couple motors, one in the 2000kv range and another in the 3300kv range. then you could step him up to the full speed stock motor.

I had a thunder tiger phoenix xb. Its radio had end points for the throttle channel. this meant the brushless buggy on 2s I could turn all the way down to 5mph even when the trigger was full throttle. very nice feature, made it safe for my kid to run the buggy. and with a simple turn of the knob I put it back to normal for when I wanted to drive it and have a 40mph buggy

turned on my Tamiya lunch box, pulled full throttle and then began to turn down the endpoint on channel 2 and the motor began to slow down even tho I still had it full throttle. so you can set the top speed (and to a degree the acceleration) to whatever speed you want.
This end point feature is needed for nitro, but for electrics can be used to set the speed for the kids and is really handy.
I was using a GT2 flysky radio with a few models. But it was annoying to have to re-trim for each model. I bought the GT3C because of the 10 model memory, it being 3 channel and the large LCD screen. It is very easy to navigate threw the menus and adjust what you want. Right now I have a SC10, lunchbox, Tamiya f150, Tamiya Baja champ all on the same radio and it only takes a second to select which model I want from the radio.

Traxxas XL5 ESC has a training mode. You can also swap in a slower motor.
When I gave the kid his first RC, a stampede I swapped in 55 turn crawler motor. It was go for about 8-9mph. From there he graduated to a tamiya silver can then up S600. Hasn't driven anything faster yet bits he's only 9
