Default Making the fastest truggy basher

So, this is my mission to create the fastest truggy I can. Hopefully 80mph but can also be used off-road without changing gearing

Think I've decided on a Truggy roller e.g. Arrma Talion or Kraton.

I was thinking of buying a used Tekno EB48.3 roller, but this can only fit a small motor. Also I currently have an Xray 808 that was going to convert, but decided I want a truggy rather than a converted buggy.

For the ESC I need something powerful, perhaps like EZRUN MAX6 or Traxxas MM2 with extra capacitors (like the Traxxas XO-1 has).

For the motor I need something big, like the Castle 1717, geared up. Or similar sized motor. Was thinking about the Castle 2200 but worried about heat. I'd also need to use special gearing to reach top speed.

For the lipo, any decent 6s 40C 5000mah pack should do. Not sure if XT-90 will be able to handle the current though.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm worried that such a large motor will drain the battery quickly. I used to run a HPI Vorza with a Castle 2650 on 6s, and it would last about 25 minutes.

I had a caste 1518 in my Losi 8T 2.0 back in the day. It was fast, over 60mph, and I never got close to hitting that off road. Power like that just causes breakages so much quicker than running a regular 1/8th size motor and 4s, not to mention the additional weight.

I had 6s 5000mah turnigy's or zippy's I cant remember, but deans and a MMM v2 never gave me an issue.

as for connectors id go with xt 150..https://hobbyking.com/en_us/xt150-co...___store=en_us
and some 3 cell packs 6800mah 45C not sure on the 25 minutes but 15 should be good..you will have to gear and check temps. I run 42 volts on my hpi with same setup as listed

Could the Losi not handle the power?

That's a crazy low kv motor! I was thinking more around the 1500kv range, so as not to lose too much speed

It could handle the power, its just things are more likely to break at higher speeds.. That motor produced a lot of torque, I went through a couple ring gears and diff cases. Bashing a racing vehicle isn't always the best idea, sure the performance is there, but they arn't meant for longevity.

Im not sure how much that esc is, but it looks like its overkill. Same thing for that motor, that might be too much torque, and Im not sure you can get it high enough without *****g your motor mount out. I would look in the 1500kv range.
