Default ESC Amps

Does the amps on the esc matter for stock 17.5 Racing? I'm beginning my return to R/C buggy racing, and plan on starting in the stock class. I have a Gruapner Genius 60+turbo, and I would like to know is it going to have enough punch. I've been looking at 90-120a escs, but don't know if I need them for stock buggy class.

Some might claim that an ESC with a higher amp rating may produce faster speed but I haven't personally seen it after trying it myself... what I did find was the HobbyWing Justock ESC didn't have nearly as strong as a brake as other 120A ESC's on the market. For racing in low grip, you probably don't want a strong brake, but for racing on high grip then having a strong brake can be very important.
