Default please help with original sc10 front axles

hey guys,
So i've had an original sc10 torn town to pieces in a box for over 5 years. I bought this kit when the sc10 first came out i believe around 2009. Recently I decided to put it back together so my son can drive it. He's just getting old enough to really drive some hobby grade RC cars (turning 8 this summer). a few years ago or so ago i bought an HPI wheely king (always wanted one) but it seems to break every time i let him drive it.
i've got it mostly put back together, but i would really like to get a new set of tires. this kit has the original wheels that have the X on the back that the axle pin likes to strip out (great design, AE). I think i can just buy a 12mm hub adapter kit for the rears. looking at these since i have some amazon GCs saved up:

I know that I need these, and i can re use the bearings that go in the wheel in the new blocks.

So that's all good and nice. However, i've been looking all over for the front axles:

I can't find anywhere that has them in stock. did they just stop making parts for the sc10? does anyone know the best way i can get my truck up to date so i can put some new rubber on it?

I guess im just looking to get this truck running so i can drive my HPI wheely king along with my son without having to buy an entire new RC. i have a castle brushless setup, spektrum radio, hi torque futaba servo and everything for this truck. Also a brand new unpainted body (threw the old one away because it was completely destroyed) that's been sitting since 2011 so i kinda want to finish this thing up.

worst case scenario, what would be a good kit that i can drop my electronics into? looking for something 1/10 scale ish that can handle grass.

They have been discontinued for quite some time now and the question used to come up weekly around the interwebs, "Where can I find them?". Those front ASC9881 Hex Axles only show up once in awhile from someone getting rid of their SC10, and you have to be constantly on the prowl.

You can buy bolts (shoulder screws) from McMaster Carr and grind down the inside of steering block if you like to tinker.

Or, I'd look into taking another platforms caster/steering blocks/axles, and transplanting them onto the SC10's front arms.
