Mr. HappyMan, You don't cut the comm stick you cut the Comm. You can only cut this so small before you need to replace the armature. It depends how many cuts you get based on what brushes you run and how firm of springs and the frequency you true the comm. Hope this helps to straighten it out for you.

Thank you...I ment the comm i just got wasn't paying attention. So you have to buy a new armature after you cut it a few times? How many cuts do you usually get before having to replace the armature and how much will that run me?

You can usually cut the comm. between 8 - 10 times, it all depends on how deep the cuts are made. If you want to move to mod racing then you should consider buying your own lathe. I just bought one from integy and really like it. Cobra and hudy also make them. A new arm is around $12.00 - $15.00.

I finally got my com stick from Team Orion.

It's GREAT for cleaning up carbon-burned comm's. After I cleaned the comm up, I realized that it didn't need to be cut just yet.

Best 5 bucks I've ever spent.

As for the lathe, I have an Hudy Tech Lathe with Hardened Steel Grooves. It's a real nice lathe, and with an add on pack will also function as a motor break in tool and cut stock sealed motors. It's pricey (199 - no cutting bit), but really well built.

Good luck.

Hmmmm.

Basically, but it's not as fine as let's say, emory cloth.

It's worth the 5 bucks. The rounded shape makes it easy to clean the gunk off of brushes.
