hi ian
can i ask whats wrong with the nikko buggy is the transmitter dead
if so then yes you should be able to get some crystals on band 27.225
but if its not the transmitter then you would have to get a esc, servo and reciever
the hardest part of converting is the steering servo
as the reciever and esc and both be placed where ever you like
you will find most "kids toys" cheaper radio controlled toys have a circut board as a esc
and then a servo with about 3~6 wires coming of it to the circut board
that all needs pulling out and then the esc, servo and reciever putting in its place

It's just the transmitter. I'll see about getting crystals.

I found the other ones and posted a couple of pics.

The big red jeep is pretty good fun but only a toy realy like most of them. The big red jeep (the one with bycmo transmitter in pic) well I got 2 of them so me and boy could drive them.
Currently charging the batteries up to see what they are like in snow.

Also found another handset that has interchangable crystals so going to see if I prefer it to the standard Bycmo handset.

pics one sec.

hi ian

just seen you cars i really like the big jeep

that transmitter may take other crystals
but some transmitters are limited to take only the band that they come with by the makers
xmods are limited to take only there crystals and they only work in there transmitters
which is why most people go for kyosho miniZ as you can use any transmitter
but if it is limited you always have the bycmo transmitter which in unlimited and will take any AM crystals
me personaly i perfer the sticks as its what i grew up with but some find that trigger/pistol grip works better for them

hi ian
how do the wheels on the cars fasten on?
are they fastened by a nut like the bycmo wheels or are they screwed?

They are all screwed on. I suppose the idea of the crystals is like a mobile phone being locked to the providers network.

Had a small Nikko buggy as a kid with trigger and the big jeeps are trigger, I'll have a try and see.

Had a go with the big jeep today and was surprised at it's capabilities. Will have a go tomorrow and try to grab a vid of it.

I'll find out the make, it's not mega fast but it's powerful at getting through the snow.
It has a trigger handset and also 5 different bands to switch in between, Which is handy because there are 2 of them
The other one is blue though.

hi ian

just had to have another look at your cars again and i was just thinking how easy it would be to convert them
and have a bunch of the same band crystals and then when you want to change cars
just turn one off and another one on

hi ian

you could always use it as a crawler it doesnt have to be fast just powerful
you could also make a winch for it and have it pullout any car that gets stuck in any mud or snow

I'm not bothered about the others realy but would like to get the big 4x4 Nikko buggy running.
The Rock Crawler is made by New Bright and was about £50 when new.
Have got a pic of the handset. The trigger type and 4 different bands to choose from.
Will deffo try and get some video of it ploughing through the snow tomorrow

Yes it sure is. Well son's one.
We can't change shells because we have different mounting points.

hi ian

you should be able to move the body post up, down, forward and backwards
there should be 4 screws in the mountings with long plastic tubes
unscrew them and move the mounting forwards and backwards
if you understand that

That's how that one came with the mounting points in different places, haven't bothered to change it yet as he has got that shell to use.
When getting some replacement shells will probably change them but then he can't nick mine if he crashes his one

Well I have just bought 2 Lotus Elise shells lad wanted us to get them but paint them different colours.
This will be the 1st shell I have done from a mould.
As you know the bycmo one was already cut and painted.

Is there a specific kit to get to get nice clean holes and any advice on cutting and painting? There is a seller on ebay that sells the paints.
Wondering what size can would paint a complete car and how much left over roughly...not sure what size can to get.
Looking forwards to it when they arrive.

Have uploaded a small video of the Jeep, to be fair it didn't have the full 4 hours charge. Will post that up soon.
