Hi frost
glad you got the gears sorted you will need to make sure the teeth on the large gear and the teeth on the spur gear are set close enough to interlink but not to close otherwise the car won't run smooth and if there to far apart it will strip the teeth

the car bodyshell extra holes can be covered be decals if you have any or kids stickers you can use two sets of body clips to hold the shell on one under the shell and one ontop

i think the esc is plug and play but if it's not it's not that hard to set up

the battery that size will make the car shift but unless you get a charger to charge a battery that size it will take ages to charge with the bycmo slow charger

if you want to go for 2.4g you will need a new receiver and transmitter hobbyking are cheap all you will need is the 3 channel reciever and the gun grip/ steering wheel transmitter
you will have to remove the old receiver from the car
then you will need to bind the receiver and transmitter there will be videos on tinternet
depending on how you feel you could get a GT POWER lighting kit for your new bodyshell they come with side, head, back, break lights & indicators I have some on a few of my 1/14th scale trucks

hope that helps
dus

Hi dus, that's what I was thinking of doing with the body clips, one set under and one set over to keep it in place but I found a decent set of posts for cheap with the stoppers so just went with that route. I purchased 10 body clips on eBay they should come next week with the rest of the parts. I'm not to bothered about the shell tbh I'm going to keep it for when I'm driving near residential areas so I don't wreck my new one. I haven't decided on one just yet but I've got a few in mind the Capri and escort mkII shells look great when painted right.

As for the 2.4g upgrade I've found a set online that comes with the transmitter (gun grip style with a led screen on top) and receiver together, they claim the receiver is waterproof has safe cutoff and a few other features that make the price of £22.99 for the set seem to good to be true but there's only one way to find out I guess. What are the led screens for on the transmitters frequency info, temp info or something?

Thanks again for your advice.

Oh yeah I looked into light sets and depending on what shell I get I may get the neon style under glow lights, I found some online that run on their own separate power source and mount to the sides of the chassis, simple wiring that runs up to a battery enclosure that holds them in place. Easy to fix to the chassis with some double sided tape too once the ESC upgrade is done with all that spare space on the chassis . Oh and the battery came with it's own charger too.

Ok dus thanks, I found a few more transmitter and receiver sets online with pretty much all the same features give or take 1 or 2 things, would a 3 channel receiver work with the bycmo car? A lot of 2.4g ones I've found say they're 3 channel.

I've been looking for new transmission blocks as I've read a lot of negative things about the standard bycmo one on here and unfortunately mine did not come with the upgraded one the car was bog standard. Is there any that you could recommend? Theres so many to choose from and I'm not sure what would fit. I'm not bothered about drilling new wholes on the chassis I just don't want to get one that isn't compatible with the set up.

Thanks

Ok so the tamiya TEU-104BK ESC turned up today but I'm in need of some assistance, the slots on the receiver are to thin. I know the side needs filling down but even once thats done it won't fit because its to fat :/ I can't file down the thickness which is the problem because the connectors are there…How can i get round this?

Hi, sorry to hear that Dus hope you get well soon. I have filled down the black plug and it fits fine but the red one is too thick to fit so i have had to install the old power switch and run the new one though it as the old one has the correct adaptor on the end. Is there any way i can run it just off the one switch rather than the new one plugged into the old one?

Ok so I've just got in from a test run with the two switch set up and it works fine but its obviously not ideal. The next step is defiantly a 2.4g Transmitter and Receiver like you mentioned Dus. I get random interference that makes the car do its own thing.

Think I will get a new motor after that the car is barely touching 10mph let alone 30. Might move the cog back bait to see if that makes a difference maybe I put it a tad to close.

Heres some pics of the Bycmo so far.

Hi frost
what are your plans for the car will you upgrade radio gear or keep the old am gear
if you plans are to take all the old radio gear out and throw it in the bin
I would take the red plug from the on/off switch from the old msc and cut it in two and use that to connect your new esc to the receiver
strip back the wire insert into the esc plug and insulation tape them securely then use the old plug in the receiver that way when you upgrade you just have to remove the tape and plug it in

if your going to keep the old radio gear I would just cut the plug off the esc and some wire and the plug off the original on/off switch and solder the wires together then use insulation tape or use heat shrink tube to insulate the wires

hi frost sorry i think i have miss-led you on your gears i think the black gear was the standard one
and the white gear is the upgraded one as i upgraded my car with the upgrades when they put them out in the extra magazines with the updates
i never used my car until i had installed all the upgrades

I'm going to upgrade to the 2.4g receiver & transmitter. I've found a bundle online I'm going to get once the new batt comes I've borrowed one for now mine is still in the post. I think I get what you mean about the wires, i had a look at the plug on the old switch and the new one and there both sealed units, I'm guessing you mean cut the wire before the plug and black tape them together once there "twisted" connected to each other? Or do you mean chop the old plug in two then put the wires inside the plastic "plug" bit?

My hex adapters haven't turned up yet but they should be here tomorrow with the new wheels, Oh and in regards to ball bearings for the wheels so the spin freely, Is it just a closed unit i buy and put inside the wheels or do i have to buy specific wheels with the bearings fitted inside or something? I don't know if i worded it correct but basically i saw a video on youtube of a bycmo car with a bunch of upgrades on it and they guy mentioned ball bearings being in the wheels to make the spin freely rather than spin for a second and stop due to friction etc.

Thanks again for all your help dus.

After a good 10 mins of spinning the nut on the front to release the wheel i realised there was a screw on the inside lol, mine are just plastic ones unfortunately. Are the ones for the bycmo a certain size due to the wheels not being standard or are they just standard? I took it for another quick run just now and it seems to be lacking a lot of power when in reverse but forward is fine just no where near 30mph and the interference is highly annoying it went into a wall at to whack and split the shell half way up the front wheel arches eek. The new ESC is great though the break and then reverse function will take a bit of getting used to but other than that I've had no problems with it yet.

I have a vid on my phone I will upload it and pm you a link, give me 10mins and it should be uploaded.

Thanks again Dus

its a great function on the esc it stops you from going full speed forward and then full speed in reverse which is why most of the cars had gearbox problems and stripped gears
