Default New to Electric cars, need first car (a good one)

I have a Team Associrate stadium truck that is nitro, but I hate the clean up. I've been in to electric planes for a while and love the no clean up and hassle so I want to take the same path with a car.

What would be the best onroad car to buy under $1000 (for everything). I'm looking for speed, but also long run times. Would like to get a kit so that I can put a good motor an stuff in it. Please list cars, motors, esc's, ect.. and help me build the ultimate car under a grand.

I have been looking at the TC3 FT and the HPI Pro4.

get the tc3 factory team kit... motor just depends on what you will race, stock or modified motor. You will probably need foam tires. (a foam tire cutter is helpful but expensive ($200). A good charger like the the Reedy Quasar Pro, or pulsar competition which will power a lathe. Personally i have the former and just use 3sub C's to run my lathe. A lathe (like the cobra) is a good investment ($120 carbide, $160 diamond bit). Matched unassambled batteries ($39-69) depending on quality and manufacturer.
You probably have everything else. If you still have radio from nitro that will save money. Probably looking just under a $1000 w/ all that stuff.

Would this be a decent setup:
Associated TC3 Factory Team Kit - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXWL81&P=7
Novak Super Sport Brushless System - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDDD7&P=M
Associated Reedy 6-Cell 3300 NiMH Stick Pack - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGJP9&P=M
Airtronics MX-3 3-Channel - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXCHA8**&P=0

Figured I'd go ahead and get another transmitter in case I want to sell my old nitro car. Is this a decent setup?

wow, with a thousand dollar budget you could get a car full of upgrades and a brushless system.

The Team Losi XXX-S Graphite is great with no Electronics same with the factory TC3 kit. The XXX-S Sport RTR is great.
The Team Losi XXX-S Cars and the Associated TC3's are the best bet

I am assuming you are going to race. Best bet is to go to a local track or at least one that you are wanting to race at and find out what classes they run and HOW many cells (6or7).
Many tracks don't run brushless motors in competition even in the modified motor class; so it best to check.
Get a synthesizing transmitter if you are going top of the line (so you don't have to buy crystals). There are many types, and you can't go wrong with any of the big names. Just check www.rccaraction.com for the readers best picks.
I listed a bunch of things in the other reply that will all be necessary if you get hooked in racing.
