If the charger has aligator clips, hook the red one to the positive terminal on the car battery and the black one to ground, NOT the neg. terminal. Ground is probably something on the engine block.

yeah - that's a 12v dc only charger. You'll need a battery or power supply to run it. If you don't want to bother with a battery, or buy a super expensive power supply, get an old computer power supply and run it off the 12v tap on that.

...you gonna run it off your car?????? [X(]
well, yeah - red clip on the red terminal, and the black one can clip on anything metal (edge of the fender, bolt on the motor block, etc.)

I know you can't run these chargers with you car running, because it will put out more than 14V. But will it run down the car battery so I can't get home?

You'd have to charge lots and lots of RC batteries to drain your car battery, but it is always possilbe if you have an older or weaker car battery.

RE: ChArGeR?!?!
actually you could keep the car running while charging from it's battery!
says on the that link you gave us:
"Input Voltage: 11-15V DC"
under specs. i think they foresee people running their motors so they compensate with a voltage your alternator will probably never surpass.
