Default frequency

Hi, I was just looking on the internet for cheap computer radios and found that most of them that were up for sale were 75mhz. I live in the UK, and I think that frequency is banned. My question is: Can you buy a 75mhz radio set, and convert it via a change of cyrstals to 40mhz or 27mhz?

Thanks in advance

aren't 40MHz and 42MHz bands for aircrafts? also, if you're planning on visiting North America one day to race in a championship, forget about it, those bands are illegal in america from what I've heard
