Remove drive shafts from rustler
How do you get them off? I need to replace the gear box, but it seems like these things wont budge, and i dont want to break them. Please help.

Look at the part (the yoke) thats up against the gearbox, their should be a set screw type thing in it, take it out and the driveshaft should come right off.

The ones on my T-maxx are like a half inch long and go all the way through the yoke, same goes for the ones on my dads nitro hawk (a nitro ST simular to the rustler). Take a look at this pic and you can see the ones like ive got http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDDS6&P=ML

Looks similar, except i dont have the smooth shaft on the end, just the allen screw. Is it stuck in there or what?

I just remembered something, my old traxxas electric buggy had another screw inside the yoke (its a phillips head screw), you have to take the 4-way ball thing and driveshaft off the yoke to get to it. See if yours has that, I bet thats the problem.

Actually thats not too hard, I just use a pair of needle nose pliers or a screwdriver and pry the yoke away from the ball thing while pulling on the driveshaft.

RE: Remove drive shafts from rustler
Wow, This is the biggest PITA ive ever had to deal with. It took me 2 hours and i still havent finished because i cant get the greabox to seat up right. If it breaks again, id rather sell the rustler then go through that, not to mention my yokes, 4 ways, and gear box are almost ruined. Am i doing something wrong? not liking R/C right now, especially because i leftmy nitros servo battery on.

dude! if you can't get the damn yoke off a rustler without breaking it, then...
seriously. i mean any one can get the yoke off with out much trouble. takes me about 2 minute to open the tranny. you take 2 hours to remove a yoke. [sm=punching.gif]

He said he was in a bad mood man, your just pushing him over the edge[&:]
It is sort of rare to break a yoke, I would upgrade to aluminum CVD's there alot easyer to get on and off and wont break (hopefully[X(])

RE: Remove drive shafts from rustler
Are you guys kidding me???? THey are the hardest thing to remove. Im suprised they didnt break earlier. I had to bend them 45* just to get one side of the 4 way out, if not more. I used a flathead to pry the yoke side back, and my friend tried to yank it out with needlenose, it was very very hard. After i got them out, the yokes where already bent outwards. THen putting them back in, i pry'd it back and it snapped off. MAybe its becaue i lhave an early model???I dont know, maybe my four ways where different, but the 2 prongs on the 4 way where sticking out of the yoke, so i had to bend it pretty far to get it out. Now im without an electric truck for a while again[&o]

My bandit, 6 years old, was a ***** to get those yokes off. I know exactly how your feeling, as i broke a yoke also. I was taking the tranny apart to give my friend my idler gear...cuz i dont use my bandit anymore- and he JUST bought his rustler and and his yokes came right out..while mine took my a lot of prying/pulling to get off. Its the age and such of the model thats troubling you. Sorry for your broke yoke
