best E-Maxx hopups?
what are the best gears (pinion/spur/diff) for the E-Maxx? are steel gears better than the best plastic ones?
and whats the best drivetrain upgrades? like CVD's ect.
any links would be much appreciated. No, i dont yet have an emaxx. but all info i can gather for upgrades and tips is being filed away in a text file, so when i do get one, ill know exactly what to get.
ps i am a n00b. the only car i have now is a 6-yr old radioshack Flashtron II, which has served me admirably. its been thru everything, broken numerous times (ducttape can fix anything [sm=biggrin.gif] ) and i never once cleaned the motor (which i cant get to anyway).
but i am becoming quite familier with RC.
thanks,
Praetor

*BUMP*
anything else? (at all) Any upgrades worthy of the emaxx please post. are there any specific heatsinks that are better than others? whats the best bashing body aka most durable or they all the same? does aerosol spazstix mirror chrome work good or is it only the airbrush version that is true mirror? are the traxxas brand upgrades (ex blue anodized motor plate; T6 cluster input ect) good/not good?
and one final question (a biggie): What are the best shocks i can buy for bashing? i wont be racing, or even on a track because none are within 60mi of my house
thx,
praetor

RE: best E-Maxx drivetrain hopups?
I tend to buy from Ebay for the convenience of using my Paypal account and easy location of what I'm looking for, but buy from wherever you feel comfortable. I bought an E-Maxx about a month ago and I have made several upgrades that I think are really good...
This is MY PERSONAL OPINION, so anyone who disagrees....well, you know.
You will need a wheelie bar to keep you from ruining your rear bumper and your body:
Wheelie bar
http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Alloy-Whe...QQcmdZViewItem
I replaced every other red spring with blue to improve the suspension, rather than replacing the shocks:
Blue springs
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-Maxx-E-Maxx-Bl...QQcmdZViewItem
The stock screws strip out too easily for my taste:
Stainless steel screw set
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-Maxx-E-Maxx-St...QQcmdZViewItem
I do not claim that one battery company is better than the other, but these are very good:
7-cell 3800mAh batteries
http://cgi.ebay.com/Intellect-IB-380...QQcmdZViewItem
The Tamiya connectors that come stock should be replaced with Deans:
Deans connectors
http://cgi.ebay.com/10-pairs-Brand-N...QQcmdZViewItem
I would advise against the alloy A-arms, since they DO make your truck heavier, but the RPM arms ar cheaper, just as durable, and about half the price:
RPM A-arms

Good Luck!

RE: best E-Maxx hopups?
My personal hop ups would be the following (in this order)
RPM A-ARMs
RPM Front Skid Protector (you can keep the stock skid with this setup!)
Dean's Plugs
7 Cell GP 3700s from Boom Boom Batteries ( more durable than the 3800s)
Aluminum Front Bulkheads
And keep going from there - this will give you the perfect mix of durability and performance at a decent price...

RE: best E-Maxx hopups?
oh and how durable are e-maxx style packs? i mean, theyre not covered in shrinkwrap, and i cant see anything besides the battery bars holding them together. wouldnt they break apart if i landed wrong off a jump?
EDIT: forgot to ask about replacement motors. ive heard the trinity ones dont do much. but why? the titans are 23T and the trinity goes down to 17T. why is there so little difference? ive heard of others, but forgot about them. are they good? or more crap?

RE: best E-Maxx hopups?
so will these work? (CVD's)
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDXN7&P=M
its says "This kit will only work for the newer 2.5 T-Maxx". i dont know if their talking like it wont work for the old pro.15 tmaxx or it will only work for the 2.5maxx and nothing else.

RE: best E-Maxx hopups?
already flagged you (ebay) in favorites for a pair of 7-cell emaxx packs. they come w/deans preconnected and all right?
EDIT: nm on the whole brushless thing. ill stick with the titans. if i could afford brushless, the apocylypse would be upon us

RE: best E-Maxx hopups?
Theres always the hv-maxx brushless system. Its kinda expensive but then if you add up the price of a new esc, new motors, comm cuts, new brushes, etc., then that brushless motor isnt looking so expensive anymore.

its max amps. which are yours (website?)? im not buying now...ill buy like when i actually get an emaxx lol.
hv-maxx: yes that is the most reasonable one. might get it in 2 yrs or so. but $500-600 for just a brushless speed controller? yeah right. i dont have that kinda loot.

RE: best E-Maxx hopups?
and should i get anodized aluminum skid plates? im hesitant about aluminum on an electric. its shiny, so ill keep buying more till the entire thing is covered. then that=15lbs, which is bad for an electric.
i had these in mind:
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKWA3&P=Z]Integy Front Type II Skid Maxx[/link]
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKWA7&P=7]Integy Rear Type II Skid Maxx[/link]
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZH42&P=7]Trinity wheelie bar set[/link]
and heatsinks:
[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBPD3&P=7]Associated Factory Team Heat Sink Set[/link]
are the skid plates really needed? do the stock ones wear out quick? the skids look heavy, and the emaxx is no nitro.
