Hi,

I have two requests for help/info [8D]

1. Does anyone have to hand the Tamiya part number (or indeed from another manufacturer) for the adjustable metal upper arms for front and back? You know - the stock ones are plastic from one of the part trees and the front ones are slightly shorter than the back ones. The part I want is the metal bar (tie-rod/turnbuckle) with plastic ends that (I think) pop onto brass ball ends and let you adjust the camber.

2. Anyone got suggestions on some cheap buggy wheels that will fit the TL-01B suspension ends/knuckles? I picked up some Kyosho ones by chance, but they are no good as they rub against the suspension - the internal diameter is too small and the offset not sufficient. What are people using?

Thanks!
I made adjustable links from turnbuckles and ball ends, just as you suggest, they work great. The ball ends are different sizes so it is best to pop into a LHS and get the bits.

I still have not found a suitable buggy wheel to avoid the fronts binding. My solution has been to GENTLY heat the stock knuckles with a heat gun and bend the arms inwards. You need to tweak the steering arms for length but it provides the clearance needed. Tried to bend an alloy Yeah Racing knuckle, dont they break !

Ok, sounds good... I don't have much chance of help from an LHS, but if (even with phmaximus's help) I don't find them ready made up I could order in the bits... you don't happen to remember the length of the metal part of the turnbuckle you used? I could estimate it I guess from the length of the plastic upper arm (less ~10mm for the end bits?), but would be nice to know..
Thanks!

Ah, so it wasn't just bad luck that the Kyosho ones didn't fit? I'm really glad you told me that, as I was just thinking about ordering some likely-looking buggy wheels online - they would probably have had the same problem. I'll see if I can modify the plastic knuckle slightly. Most of the rubbing was against the tyre sidewall, and that can stopped by moving the inner sidewall to the wrong side of the gluing ridge on the rim, so I only need a mm or two. I might be able to file it off...

The reason for this is a rolling chassis that I picked up "for spares" that I accidentally fixed up into an on-road brushless saloon car... except that I have nowhere to run it (the drive is gravel and the patio is too small)! So I thought I could make it into an HBX style buggy that would be different from the Bonzers but still go off-road.

YES! Those are just the thing! (Thank you)

But I wish it said what part they were - Morfars charge an amazing 19 Euros shipping to the UK which is frustrating on a 7 Euro part! I am sure it is one of the normal Tamiya turnbuckle parts that I could order locally with £1 shipping... (timetunnelmodels has 25 different Tamiya turnbuckle sets - I just need to know which one it is!!!)

Funny.. i just spend 8£ to get some parts sent the opposite way

I guess you will just have to buy some more parts.. then the 19€ dont feel so bad

Alternatively you can go for the TL01 arms set:
[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGJ53]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGJ53[/link]

and then buy the rods separately:

Well actually, that's just it - if I was going to make up the arms myself, I already have some brass ball connectors and at least four spare plastic ball cup adjusters, so it is just the metal rod piece that I need - I am just unsure which of those is the right size... For example, time tunnel have the following 23 Tamiya turnbuckles available:
http://goldstarstockists.net/live/ca...tamiya&x=0&y=0

Some of those are full kits (i.e. with the connectors) and some are just the metal bit - I don't really mind. But one of them has to be the perfect size?!

Ah, no, those are the steering turnbuckles, which go between the servo and the steering point on the knuckle. They are quite long (as they go all the way into the servo) - the metal piece alone is 71mm without the end bits.

But the part I am looking for is the same kind of thing, but to replace the front and rear upper arms. I reckon that they are about 60mm total (including the end bits), so I guess that I need the metal part to be around 40-50mm? The front ones are a little shorter than the back ones, but they can probably be the same part screwed in a bit more.

Oh well, it was worth asking - thanks everyone for your input (and phmaximus, obviously if you do find that link that would be great!)

[I was just thinking that the Bonzer v4 seems to come with them fitted as standard. But although Hammond toys does list some linkage parts, they are not marked as for the Bonzer (whereas everything else that is, is) and is in a list of parts that includes centre dogbones,
outdrives and other stuff that is clearly not for the Bonzer...]

Hi all..

I am thinking about selling my Bonzer Cross tiger truck. I have had it a little over a year now and want to get a new truck. The truck is in good condition. The motor sometimes smokes for 5 seconds but then runs fine. The only other thing that is wrong with it is sometimes the front screw for the front wheels falls off. Looks like a very easy fix. The esc is in great condition. Tires show some wear. This will be a great truck just for fun or a parts truck. The only modification i have made is put a carbon drive shaft in, which increased the top speed. I have the trucks original box which I will ship it in. Also included is lots of spare parts i ordered from tamiya. I will be posting the truck on ebay soon only for United States auction. Let me know if anyone is interested. I will post pictures soon

Johnny90: Apparently you don't understand how it works...once in THE FAMILY, always in THE FAMILY. [8D] [sm=drowning.gif][sm=punching.gif][sm=cool.gif]

Seriously, I thought about getting rid of my Bonzers/Max Buggy/Skyline HBX cars since I've become addicted to Traxxas Rustlers, especially since it's a LOT easier to get parts for Traxxas, but I still like the fun of 4wd. What are you thinking about buying?

And oh yeah, good luck with the sale! We'll just have to add a new person to...THE FAMILY.

Get a Rustler, and get a VXL if you can afford it. The Stampede is going to just piss you off off-road with only rear wheel drive (especially if you're used to the Bonzer 4wd), and it's tippy if you want speed. I use my Rustlers for speed, and my Bonzer for backyard bashing.

ok i havent really had much time to find the Swing arms but i have found a few, i still need to mesure front & rear arms before i can reccomend anything, i have found some that should be very close, this is a site that i get most stuff from.

failing that i can order any specfic turn buckle, derlin ball end or the ball, in most alloy colours & titanuim but the only problem that i can only order 10 @ a time.
funny u guys say but ive just ordered (from a whole saler) some purple alloy turnbuckles & black plastic ball ends for my E10 just got to get some purple derlin balls
my order only cost me US$48.90 including postage & it was 20x 3x20mm purple alloy turnbuckles & 100x 3.8mm Delrin Ball End Size 16.20mm, i only need 2 turn buckles & 4 ball ends but this will allow me to make 9 more kits to sell & 60 spare ball ends. i should be able to sell the kits & make my money back & get a free upgrade, or i could use some of the spare ballends & get some titanium turnbuckles that will suit the bonzer & sell them to people here @ cost.

Hi phmaximus - many thanks for that. I've never used liquidRC - what a great shipping policy: 99c!

I think that the last of the three you posted is a different length from the others - in that one, the metal turnbuckle alone is 60mm (plus the ball ends 20mm); whereas the one in the first link is 58 or 61mm assembled including the ball ends. I'm guessing that one would be the better fit...?

But if you were going to be making up that hop-up kit comprising just what I need to do all four arms, I'd happily take two sets right away!!

Tamiya produced a set of turnbuckle shafts only at 50, 60 and 65mm, Tamiya part 53181, you would still need the end connectors etc . I've done a quick search and can see them on ebay, although they are a tener for a pair + delivery. It might be worth seeing if you can find them elsewhere (tamiyaparts, fusion hobbies etc).

Oh yes, that's a good find. (Thank you) They seem to be a discontinued part, but as you say they are on a couple of eBay shops. I guess I am going to have to stop faffing around and either plump for a suitable part like that so I can make up my own tie-rods, or go ahead and find enough stuff on Morfars to make the postage worth while!

I can not answer to the freightcost outside of Scandinavia in regards of Morfars, but they are very good to deal with and have loads of parts, if you have the partnumber, they can fix it for you if you can not find it on the webshop.
I buy quite a lot from them!

That's good to know, thank you, it is useful to have feedback. The website seems good.

Their shipment prices puzzle me - 19 Euros is the flat (starting) rate for shipment to the UK, which is crazy if it is a small item. And although they could argue that I should place a bigger order, actually I am much more likely to try a new vendor with a small order the first time. Also, the nature of this hobby that you quite often need one little part... Personally I would have bought from them many times were it not for that postage charge - really hard to justify it when other European sellers charge 2-5 Euros. Some sites have international flat rates as low as 99c (liquidRC).
