Default RE: is this a good set up

very nice setup but make sure that your track will let you run a sensorless brushless motor

or even a brushless motor at that

if you want the best set-up just get the most expensive items...
servos- i only use sirtronics 94357, super high speed.
esc & motor- i'd go novak 3.5- again make sure its ok where you race, if you race.

...because we all know how spending $$$ makes us faster on the track

yeah, same thing goes with waht the guy above said, but dont get me wrong, the mamba 7700kv is amazing, especially with lipo, but if u run the mamba 5500kv with more cells, you'll get MUCH more speed out of it. juz my 2 cents :]

you mean the 5700?!? the 7700 has a limit on the amount of power you can load in, the 7700 is faster (side by side/same gearing/same battery) but the 5700 allows you to send up to 12 cells. that being said, if you want to compete and your track will acknowledge your "sensorless", by all means go for the 5700. you will accumulate plenty of batteries and may eventually start making your own packs. the 5700 gives you the most long term potential in my opinion.

oh, i forgot...i second on the airtronics 94357. it's a very nice metal geared servo that generates 120oz torque. i've always ran rtr, i just recently built my first rc stadium truck...and from the very kind and informative suggestions on rc universe, the airtronics is certainly an awesome servo!

i haven't had any experience with the novak motors. i know they are all plenty fast! as far as the car, tamiya makes some fantastic kits (very tough, assemble well, and have a wide offering of hop ups). i went to my lhs, a guy there races on crazy fast associated tc4. you can't really go wrong with either of those kits. just don't be running out there with a stock traxxas electric 4-tec.

For high power application, you might want to look into belt drive Tamiya too.. (TRF415 series..)

The TRF415MSX MRE is VERY nice.. and probably can put down the power slightly better due to no torque steer...
