Default fastlane's Rising Storm Thread

Hi all! I just ordered a Tamiya Rising Storm from Rcmart and I have a question, what tools do I need to build this thing and what else do I need to complete the build(this is my FIRST build!)

thanx

Phillips screwdriver (various sizes)
pliers
small needle nose pliers
paint for body
x acto knife

Im assuming you already have a transmitter, reciever, and servo(s), right? Those are the basic tools I use, but sometimes you'll need others for certian applications. I might be forgetting something though.

It comes with all the lubricants you need. There's not enough metal to require threadlock.

Only large kits come with TL, because the smaller ones wont need it. That is Tamiya wise, anyway, I don't think any other brands include TL.

No, unless you want to glue the tires, but IMO you wouldnt need to glue the tires stock, but it would be good to anyway.

i found a good hobby knife and fine grit sandpaper will help clear away any burrs on the kit parts. it's not a race, take it one step at a time. it will give you a better understanding of your vehicle, and will help you troubleshoot later on down the road.

go to the lhs and get thread lock and some ca, cost youa bout 6 bucks, and its good to know that you arent going to lose any screws, cause hardware will end up costing more than some frekin thread lock will. josh

I do have one tip for you. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly. I messed up a couple of times were I would have to take it apart again and do it over. Like the differental or the shocks. It will save you the frustration.

What are you intending to use threadlock on? It eats through plastic which screws stay in anyway and the only metal parts in the whole car are the diffs and the screws are so small, trying to take them out when threadlocked would be a nightmare without stripping the heads.

The stock tires wore out on me about a week after the build so dont waste your time gluing them to ruin a set of rims.

And -Brian, where in ct are you from? I'm in griswold.

LOL, oh that is sooo funny. anyway, the kit came about 3 days ago and by now ive completely built it(except for painting the body, I havent got any paint yet) anyway I didnt have any trouble with the kit and it was a fun experience.I didnt glue the tires cuz I didnt need to. BTW, when I was building the shocks, I had just put the oil in my first shock, moving it up and down to bring up the air bubbles, but then when I pulled down the shaft a little too fast the oil squirted right out of the shock body and all over my fingers[:@] yuck! any way im using a hitec delta peak charger but I dont wanna get an expensive power supply for it cuz im just gonna run it at a great bashing spot right next to my house[8D] so is there any such thing as an a/c power supply that I can connect my charger to so I can charge my batteries, I cant charge them in the meantime [:@] and I have to wait a whole week until I can go the my LHS[][:@] cant run it before then[:@] and I dont have time to go there during the weekday cuz I have afternoon school[:@], and I only got to run it 2 times (2 batt's), anyway pics coming soon(with the digital camera my mom got 4 Xmas[8D]). anyway thanks 4 all the posts and helping me out, hope can chat again soon!

Yeah just a bog standard 12v car battery, it will last for quite a while - mine has lasted about 20 recharges and still going strong

There's a gadget out there that used for those small portable refrigerators that are used in the car, camping, etc.
It plugs into the wall and provides a 12v-6amp output, with a cigarette lighter plug, or for those PC freaks, an "accessory outlet". I got mine at Target for $20 a couple years ago. I think they're all the same, but they're sold under Igloo and Rubbermaid brands, and probably others too. Pick up a plug from an auto parts store or Radio Shack, and you're all set.

Uhhh, why? Mine's been working great for two years. It runs an Intellipeak Digital, which only came with a 7amp PS to begin with. I don't charge at over 5amps anyway.
