i was just wondering about these electric mts. what kind of speed and runtimes do these get? i have a revo but i like the idea of no tuning or nitro fuel. if i wanted to, could i just drop any two matching motors in or what?

Eric Hege's RCU Review of the E-Savage: http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=802

My Review of the E-Savage: IT ROCKS!!!! While riding in the pasenger seat, I clocked my E-Savage at no less than 25mph while driving around my
very long block. It's flat, uphill, and downhill, so at one point we hit 30mph.

Take a look on this page and page 2 for several E-Savage/E-Maxx threads......

40 mph? Hmm i dunno about that, are you running different motors or 7 cells? Because i run the S-600 motors and i highly doubt i run 40, maybe 30-35mph

i think i might get an e savy. it looks pretty durable. i like that it comes with two batteries and a twin charger. how long does it take to charge those batteries with that charger?

Hmm i believe it said something like 30-45 minutes? BUT i don;t use that charger. One thing you need to know is it's only a car charger so you'll need to get an adapter.

when i got my zilla i discovered the charger problem... so i phoned the shop i bought it from and because they failed to mention the fact that i couldnt plug it in... they told me to send it back and they sent me a ripmax pro peak varipulse charger... which although it only does one at a time, it will charge one battery in around 35mins... and it looks better too :-)

I seriously doubt any other hobby shop is going to do that.

Seven cell packs will run you to 35 mph or so. You'll get nearly 20 minutes on decent (IB, GP, Epic) 4200+ cells. The e-savage is a great truck, fast and durable out of the box and easy to make better without spending much money (lighter weight than something like the E-maxx means cheaper BL systems can be used).

Duratrax makes a "Compact Power Switching Supply": http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4300.html
It's around $35-$40, but I bought a second Piranha Digital Peak charger last night. I'm hooked on the info
display, and can't use chargers that keep me guessing.

I did buy a $7 adapter from WalMart when we first got the E-Savage. Being cheap, I had to shine varios flashlights into the
package to see what the adapter's output was like. It was LOW, so I got my $7 back. The GT Escape needs something that
puts out around 7amps, and there just isn't a cheap alternative to a cigarette lighter. Several of the power supplys I looked at
were $100 and up, and that's crazy.

the model shop i got my charger exchanged with only did it because i rang them up and gave them an ear full... also on their website it says that it comes with the charger with a uk plug... which it didnt... and when i rang them up they said that they knew it didnt and still they advertised that it did!!!!! so they didnt realy have a choice but to give me a different one...

i did find out just after i got it that they sell the e-zillas charger on their website for £40 and the varipulse charger they exchanged it for sells for £35, so they actualy made money out of it!!! cheaky bas***ds!!!! couldnt be bothered sending it back again though... it would have been too much hastle and i just wanted to get the beast running!!!!!!!

I've seen the GT Escape advertised in the UK for as much as 75 pounds!!!!! I have to decide whether to sell mine, or find a
CHEAP adapter.

Well....When my son joined the USAF, I gave his cruddy timed charger to my nephew. He'll be transferring to Dover AFB (not far from
where I live), and he might want his charger....LOL!!!! I could give him the GT Escape.

i still dont get why they only made a dc charger[sm=50_50.gif][sm=punching.gif]. if it wasnt for that, there would be no downfalls.

Well....When Eric Hege reviewed the E-Savage, he said that DC chargers are a plus for racers. That's probably not something that
applies to E-Savage use, so maybe HPI was just dumping some unwanted stock....????

I just went through the same thing (Maxx or Savage). Once i got to look at them side by side, the choice was easy.
The savage is quite a bit smaller and a lot lower than the maxx. Good for going fast and stability (going fast on smooth surfaces). Not so good for what I wanted. I've already got an xxx-t for that kind of driving.
I wanted a big, bad monster truck that will squash little kids toes rather than get high-centered on them.
I bought an Emaxx last weekend and I love it! It kicks butt! I didn't think I would care for the 2-speed tranny, but it's a nice feature.
If all you want to do is go fast, get the savage. If you want to go fast and not get stuck, get a Maxx.

btw-yes, the savage comes w/ a chrger and 2 packs, but they aren't that great. And certainly don't make the truck drive any better.
