Default How do I know if my motor has a schottky diode?

Just what the subject says... I just purchased a Novak 12t Rooster Reversible speed control and it's telling me that I cannot use a motor with a schottky diode... "Schottky diodes must NOT be used with the Rooster ESC. (Schottky diodes are never used with reversible ESCs, including brushless) Schottky diode usage WILL damage ESC & void warranty!" If it's easier for you to tell me whether I have a schotkky diode or not by my vehicle, I'm driving the Tamiya TAO4r with the stock motor in it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's a big black cylinder thing that would be located on the endbell of the motor. It's very obvious if there is one installed

Size of a tic tac. Normally it goes from + to ground or - to ground.

Unless it's surface mount, but in your case that cannot be.

Bigger than a tic-tac. It's about half a jolly rancher's length
