Thanks, Cheech, I think I'll get the Dirt Hawgs. Thanks for helping me get down to 2 choices out of all of the 2.2 dirt tires available

RE: The OFFICIAL Tires And Wheels Thread:
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows if these will work on an Evader ST: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNWN8&P=0
If they do not, does anyone know what bead lock rims will work?
Thanks,
Kruddy

RE: The OFFICIAL Tires And Wheels Thread:
none, i have asked that same question many times.. beadlock rims will only work in the back only if you get the hex adapter, small price to pay. but they dont make bead lock rims for the front, there made mostly for 4wd cars, stadium trucks like the evader and xxxt and the t4 all have a axel and a bearing in the rim. with bead lock you need a hex design of some sort in the front.

Hello Cheech,
So you are saying that I would need to buy a hex adapter for the rear wheels to fit (I dont need them to be on the front, just the back)? If I am correct, what hex adapters work?
Thanks,
Kruddy

Has anyone tried the GRP Wheel/Tire combo? I'm wondering if these wheels are more tru then the egg shaped Associated/Proline wheels I have. So far the straightest wheels I've found for my T4 are HPI's. The GRP's are pricey but if they are tru and have molded foams they might be worth it.

RE: The OFFICIAL Tires And Wheels Thread:
just getting back to the removal of tires off rims.. everyone's either used of the 3 things available.. boiling water, oven or a shop related substance, well here in new zealand for our radio controlled stockcars a couple of us actually use hair dryers... heat them up , Wear some heavy duty gloves and just pop em off each side at a time... usually takes around 5 mins to pop a tire completely off the rim. less time, less messy

If you used CA, there is a CA dissolver spray that works alright on other stuff that I've used it on. I haven't tried it on my rims yet....

i heard nothing but good things about GRP wheels, they have factory molded foam inside it which is great cuz it causes less ballooning of tires which hence will give you better traction.

RE: The OFFICIAL Tires And Wheels Thread:
yup it should do...... never tried it on foam's though. but my girlfriend brought a new one and she was tossing it out until a buddy told me about it... waste of time doing my hair though coz i'm bald but it does keep the head warm when getting tires off!.... but what i usually do is turn it onto really hot, hold it about 1-2 feet away and have a ciggie while doing it. when the ciggies finished out the gloves on and pop one side off... wait till that cools down a bit then do the other side... if you get bored doing it pretend your luke skywalker and have some fun while doing... just don't let the neighbours see you as they will get entertained!

As for removing the tire glue, I myself use Acetone like metaldog mentioned. It dissolves the glue, leaves no residue, wont hurt the tires, rims, or your foams. What I do is let them soak in a painters tray for about 1-2 hours, then you can start pulling the tires from the rims. If you let your tires/rims soak for a bit, you can use an old tooth brush or something to remove the old glue and they will be like new again. You cannot use acetone on chrome wheels, it will ruin the chrome. Not sure if it is safe for dyed wheels. The only down side is that you cannot use it indoors, it's flammable, vapors can't be good for you, and it will evaporate quickly if left in a open container. You can buy a big can of it at Walmart for like $10.

I will try and use a hair dryer that sounds cool. I also have a heat gun which boils paint off of wood[sm=punching.gif] so i will try that on some striped rims that i have and let ya know how it works out I have tried boiling the tires and that did not work too good, so i decided i was gonnah soak them in gasoline [X(] BAD idea i warped the striped rim and the brand new roadrage tires [:@]
Any one ever tried these: HPI Sand Thrower, Pro-Line Sling Shot, and Pro-Line Sand Paw. they have a big sand pile in back of work and i want to test it out my moabs don't cut it on the pede . and i am looking for some sand tires on my maxx also.
p.s. check out my gallery for a couple of pics of the maxx in the sand

What shore of foams should I use for this track and a 17t TB-02?

any high tracktion GRP foams should be great for that track. tower has them, I know its not a foam but sorex rubber tires would work great there too.

All I plan to do is bash.
Anyway, in 1:1 tires, slicks provide optimum traction (full contact with the ground), but we need grooves for everyday use due to possiblity of wet conditions (ie, rain). However, I've noticed a lot of "high performance" RC tires to be patterned rather than be slicks. Why is that? Is it just for looks?
