RE: Mamba max vs. lrp
I have had both. MM with 5700 and Sphere with 1-Star.
I use the Sphere. The Sphere is much better for racing IMO. It is much smoother from bottom to top. You can program either ESC without a PC. The MM is a bit tedious and the Sphere is a breeze.

RE: Mamba max vs. lrp
I use to have the LRP Sphere Competition ESC with a Reedy Neo-1 4star motor and the Mamba Max ESC with a Feigao 380c 6l motor. All I can say is if I had the money to get another awsome brushless system I would get the sphere comptetion anyday. It was the smoothest running bl system Ive ever used and had gobs of torque.

What do you all mean by the motor being smoother? I don't get that.

RE: Mamba max vs. lrp
I went with the LRP system back when it was either LRP or Novak. Wish I'd chosen Novak. Out of four LRP motors I destroyed two of them, a 3-star motor and a 4-star motor. Their motors are poorly constructed and just don't heat and hard running very well. When I took the failed motors apart, the magnets had seperated from the rotor and broken into pieces. If you must have a sensored system, I honestly don't know why anyone would choose LRP over Novak.
As for the mamba max it's great if you set it up properly and have the skill to drive it. Some people make the mistake of putting the high-KV motors in off-road applications which is not the best thing to do. For off-road racing you really don't need much more than the 5700 motor or the 4600 for a short track. Compared to the mamba, the LRP had less torque and would kinda lag in the high end (in my touring car). I could get my 4-star motor up to ~50 mph, but it would take a while to get up. The mamba could go 0-54mph in 2 seconds and no other motor can beat that.

RE: Mamba max vs. lrp
Yeah that is my stock brushless setup now, novak motor and a leftover LRP ESC, fortunately the sensor plugs between Novak and LRP are compatible.
