Default Help me make my mind up please

Ok, so i want either a rustler xl-5 or rustler vxl.

i have a stampede xl-5 and also another grounded stampede which i will use for parts. (i assume i can use stampede parts for rustler also)
I have 6 SMC4200 batteries i can use.
i also have some original stock xl-1 rims with masher 2000 tires glued on which i assume i can use on a rustler vxl. please correct me if im wrong on any of this.

If i get the rustler xl-5 i know for sure i would upgrade to rpm carriers, 5X11 ball bearings, rpm front bumer and aluminum idle gear.
So that would take me over $200 for a rustler xl-5 with those mods.

i am a member at towerhobbies and i get free shipping. I also have a $30 coupon off any order. Also the rustler vxl is $320 for club members.
if i get the rustler vxl the total will be $290.00

i did not want to spend as much as $290.00 but it just seems like the smart thing to do in my situation.

is this a no brainer? should i just get the vxl?

ps ive been thinking on this for two weeks and i am getting tired of thinking about it grrrr

No brainer, you will have much more fun with the VXL. $80. more to go brushless is a bargain.

its not faster unless you buy the lipo, and a lipo capable charger if you dont have one already. its a 3500 kv motor, thats not that fast unless you gear it to the moon and put some serious power behind it. i mean seriuosly a novak 8.5 motor has 5000 kv and that will be faster than the vxl with the batteries he has.

every touts the rusty or pede vxl when the truth is not only do you have to spend 300+ for it to get those claimed numbers you need an additional 200 minimum.

i dont realy care about speed but what i do care about is least maintenance as possible. since its brushless and the transmission is metal i assume you dont need to do much. plus i can use my batteries. im ordering it now.

Thank's Cheech, i've been trying to tell this to B-boy for a while now. Hey bud, if you really want a brushless rusty, get these three items, and your set. (and it won't even be close to $290)

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJK70&P=7
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJK71&P=7

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRST1&P=ML

And this is a good idea, as the stampede might not have enough screws:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSJU8&P=7
(it's got all the same screwz as the original rusty.)

Are you sure you even want to get a rustler?

Why not try this?

or this? (if you want rtr)

i just bought a new stampede vxl today, it is smoking fast, with my 1500mah packs, traxxas's numbers are way off, the front end gets very light at top speed on the road, i'd say it could almost keep up with my 7 turn xxx-t
