Default sensored vs sensorless

so i have a mamba max 7700 on some lipos And i want to race and i cant use lipos the mamba sucks on nimhs/nicds. So i was looking at a sensord lrp 4.5. Will it have the speed and power as my mamba on some intellects? Will it run cooler?

Thanks

I don't know about LRP, but Novak makes a couple motors that are at least as fast as the MM7700 (the Velociti 3.5 and 4.5). The 5.5 might be close also. If the LRP motor is similar enough to the Novak equivalent, it should be just as fast.

Is this on-road racing? On dirt these motors are kind of overkill, from what I hear. You'll need lots of traction.

What RC are you going to race it in and what size/type of track will you be racing on?

A 4.5 like the 7700 is way to much motor for anything less than a 4wd buggy and is questionable to being too much for even 4wd buggy!

I will be running a xxx4 on an open smoothe track but i like the speed of the 7700 for street and stuff but it onley goes fast on lipos so i need something just as fast that will run good on normal batteries.

Novak GTB + 3.5R motor and some Nimh 6-cell side-by-side soldered IB4200s, EP4200s or even DTX 3800+. That will give you 55-60+ mph depending on the car and still give you cog-free low speed control and top speed.

I run DTX 3800s in my Traxxas Bandit with the 3.5R and I've clocked it at over 55 mph (geared 25/78)....Motor barely gets 125-130'F in summer, and it will pop a wheelie if I gear it a little bit lower (23/84).

The fast sensored motors will not really pull any less current than sensorless ones. They are potentially smoother when accelerating from a stop, and the sensors help keep things smooth when high amp draw on a sensorless setup could cause cogging. You will still want good batteries for a fast Novak setup, though you might get away with slightly less powerful batteries than the 7700 requires. For ultimate performance you still need the best batteries you can afford.

ill get the LRP sphere TC + vector x-11 4.5 turn and i have some matched 3400 packs. I like the LRP because i can run lipos when im not racing. and it seems that the novaks have regulated acceleration and stuff for racing. with my mamba and matched packs my friend with a stock B4 keeps up with me and we have the same batteries.
