Im building a hyper 7 using a mm esc, 2 5000 2s but dont know a motor for my application . The beast shouldnt weight more than 12 lbs. Are there better brands out there iwas think maybe a 8xl or a 7xl . Any suggestions will be helpful.

8XL or 9XL for sure. The L's have about 66% of the torque that XL's have.

The 9 XL should run cooler and be able to use high voltage for some good speeds with out overrevving.

there are plenty of better brands out there dependent on what you want to pay. Neu, Lehner, Aveox, Plettenburg. If you're on a budget, an 8XL will do nicely on the cheap.

yeah either an 8xl or 9xl. I personally would go with an 8xl, but yes the 9xl will run cooler.

Yes, you mentioned brands, so to clear things up, I was talking about Feigao XL.

I run the 9xl in my e-revo on 4s (stock nitro gear ratio/pinion/spur)

it's every bit the equal of the 3.3 nitro

zero issues of heat, even after running through a 5000 mah pack (for as long as 2 tanks of nitro)

offshoreelectrics.com has the XL motors (though they are not the black heatsink ones, just plain purple) for $20 less than rc-monster, that's where I got mine from. They also have S and L motors as well as other brands. Good shipping too, $10 and about 4-5 days to your door...

Since you said the whole thing is about 10-12 lbs, it might be especially with high voltage.
