RE: tamiyas getting better
That Dual Hunter is really nice. Essentially an TL01 with motors on both ends and extended Arms. That TEU103BK looks like a really nice dual ESC aswell. Just make sure to get some 11x5 mm bearings to replace the Bushings.
All of those kits you list are good. I would love a DT02MS and a DB01.
I have been in this hobby for more years than most of the people on this site have been alive for. Tamiya kits where awesome value then, and they still are now.

Yea that dealhanter looks really cool. If it's durable I might get one.

Ha Mindwreck, to rustler you will find most Tamiya's are equal in durability to the Traxxas' that everyone on this forum recommends it is just people are lazy or don't like building kits so they never experience how great Tamiyas are.

RE: tamiyas getting better
The first 3 models you posted are just remakes under either different names or their under the same name, just updated. The Durga and the TRF501X arwe both sweet. I just dont see what the point on spending the extra $80 on the Durga which is basically a KH. The TRF501X is one sweet buggy, dont me wrong. Its the one buggy I'd choose over any other 4x4 buggy, including the b44.

I am pretty dissapóinted in Tamiya, Nothing new for a couple of years now. Just repackaging existing cars more or less. Still love them though for their older models.

Durga is a belt driven chassis based very closely on the TRF501X, only in plastic instead of CF. The DF03 is a shaft driven chassis.

Have another, closer look . There is very little common between the DF03 (DI) and the DB01(Durga). I think you are perhaps confusing the Durga with the Keen Hawk/Avante MkII/Dark Impact (The only difference between these 3 cars is the body).

RE: tamiyas getting better
I am saving up for one myself!!!
But then along comes cars like the E-Firestorm... and to make it even worse... now the Losi Speed-T [&o][&o]
And there are still about 20 Tamiya's I still want..... []
My list gets longer every day, not shorter!

RE: tamiyas getting better
I like the buggies. I probably ask this a lot, but what improvements are we going to see in terms of speed on the standard 540 motors included? I'm guessing that over the vintage/reissues they handle and setup better, and are probably more durable all round.
I like the Plasma Edge. I'd love a Durga or DI but I'm a basher (probably in the worst sense of the word) not a racer.
Willy.

Tamiya has always been good they make a lot of low cost cars that are a blast to build and play with, they also have som great race cars that are very high priced but well worth the coin

Tamtechs are good fun. But do not confuse them for true hobby grade cars. They are toys more than anything else.

What is your definition of a "hobby grade car"?

Durga looks cool; I'm thinking of selling my old original Avante/technigold/adspec & getting something like the Durga so I can drive it without huge fear of breaking something expensive! The new avante mkII just doesn't do it for me
