Just FYI, TEU-101 has no built-in BEC.. so it will feed 11V to your RX...

WARNING: DONT TRY THIS AT HOME

i tested it and its ok you can run a 11.1 volt through the stock esc , as long as you dont use the bec.
i am using the red plug for my lights which i think is the bec . so through the speed controll plug i am getting 5 volts from my 4 cell pack at the reciever. in the pic i plugged the battery in and cut the reciever wires and shrink wraped them and added my leads to check the voltage.
so now i hope i will get a little more speed through this , who needs brushless ........not me

What motor are you runnin on that midntpumkin? I agree lots of voltage is fun I am running 14.4 on my blackfoot you get spoiled on the power HAHA. I agree, everyone jumps on the brushless train, but you can get power on the cheap if you so choose

Yeah, the problem is really just that most of the brushed ESC do not support more than 8.4V..

I know people use them that way, and get away with it, but I guess it is at your own risk, I guess..

But if it works, why not!!

Looks like it melted the dean connector a little bit also.[:-]
Yeah I wouldnt try lipo on the tamiya esc, I'm pretty sure people have ran 7-cell on it without problems. But 14.4 volts is crazy it would smoke 4-sure.
If you want to be cheap about it those SPORT-TUNED (black can) tamiya motors I tried were pretty good for speed and runtime.
I have also heard the dirt tuned and GT tuned motors are pretty good also.
