Default novak havoc or gtb

ok well im looking into the novak esc/motors. then i saw there were two versions of it. the gtb and havoc. so whitch is better is it worth the extra money to get this http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/12841 or just stick with the cheaper hovac http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/33971 and my question is whats the difference between the two.

If your racing, you'd be better off with the GTB. It has a lot more tuning options, and no motor limit. The Havoc can only go down to 8.5 turn motors.

Here is the link to Novak's Speed Control specs:

NOVAK SPEED CONTROL SPEC CHART

The Havoc 3S, which we have not yet shipped, is a 3 lipo esc, the GTB is 2 lipo.

i'd definitely say don't get the most aggressive brushless. i have the gtb and i would say its definitely not good for offroad racing anything 2wd. the throttle is way to aggressive and there is too much torque.

^What class do you race? I run a gtb with a 17.5 stock and it has a lot of torque and thats expected from a 17.5 but its not uncontrollable it just takes practice.

I think he was talking about insane brushless sytems like the Novak 6.5. I say go for the havoc 10.5, good speed, good price. You wont even need any of the tuning features unless you can run consisent lap after lap.

Also your battery choice will help with motor selection. I run a GTB/5.5 on 4-cell nimh in my T4, and its pretty much perfect for how I like to drive, my local track is loose and dusty, but the power is controllable and with the 5.5 the top end is just as fast as people with slower motors and bigger batts. But if your main running area is pretty high traction with the right tires don't be afraid of the lower turn stuff, but otherwise yeah go for the higher winds, as mentioned the 10.5 is great choice.

oh i meant to add in that i have the gtb w/ the velociti 4.5. don't go that aggressive. haha. i have this in a 4wd buggy. the throttle seems to step from a crawl to insane-o in just a tiny bit of throttle.

the gtb is good. i meant to say the 4.5r. THAT isn't good for something 2wd. 4wd it'll be fine. it would be hard to control in a 2wd.

There isnt any true 4wd truck kits, like your thihking of stadium trucks like your xxx-nt right? If you want a kit and something durable and 4wd look at the Tamiya Dark Impact/Keen Hawk.
