RE: When did you build you first kit?
All RTR's so far other then my heli.. But it was the most fun I have had. If I had the money I would do a kit and do it right but since I'm always broke I tend to go with RTR's..

My first and only car I bought about a year ago was the Durga. So much fun building the kit. For some reason the only rc cars I want to buy right now are kits but I cant afford them.

RE: When did you build you first kit?
Well my first car was a kit, Losi XXX spec buggy (1999 World Champion) to give you an idea of how old it is. I ran it for abut 5 years, then bought more kits! Currently, the only RTR I have ever owned was the Mini-Baja, and I ran it a total of 5 times! Pure CRAP.

My first rc was a Traxxas Hawk when I was 12. Still my favorite Christmas present and I had a great time building and running it.

I built kits like the Hornet and original RC10 simply because RTR didn't exist yet.

RE: When did you build you first kit?
1980's Kyosho Cosmo and Tamiya Boomerang. Bought a whole bunch of RTR's the last year but got back into the building bug the last few months. Built a re-release of the Boomerang and currently building a DF01. Have a DF03Ra waiting in the wings as well as a Hotshot and Hornet on order. Building kits is such a great experience, too bad most vehicles only come RTR nowadays...

RE: When did you build you first kit?
the first kit was in 1985 mauri samuri 4 wheel chain drive . [sm=confused_smile.gif] that was some time ago and wish i kept it , actually not really, i think the gears needed replacing every 12 to 15 runs . the best was the hot shot , now that was quick . my friend had the rc10 and we had a blast.

RE: When did you build you first kit?
In 1987 I got a Tamiya Boomerang...that was my first kit. Drove it for about 4 years, then got interested in other things[8D] Got back into the hobby in Nov. 2007 with a RTR RC18T, after a month the only RTR left were the arms. I got a Xray M18MT (kit) a TC5 (kit) a B44 (kit) that Dec. Got rid of the TC5 and B44 (no time to race and those aren't bashing cars) and got a E-Maxx RTR..I love building the kits but I wanted a Maxx and now I want a 1/16 e-revo both RTR, I think I might build a Tamiya re-release just to build something

RE: When did you build you first kit?
My first car was a Tamiya Grasshopper kit. I was about 12. My second was a Tamiya brusier then a RTR Kangaroo by a company I can't even remember. I wanna say it was by astro craft or something like that. a good portion of my stuff these days is RTR as I'm a big Traxxas guy. I really wish they made kits but what can I do. I still buy a few Tamiya models every year so I can build them. I have a frog, fire dragon and Boomerang sitting on the desk now waiting to be put together.

RE: When did you build you first kit?
First hobby grade RC was an SG Coyote 4WD buggy, IIRC, back in the 80s. It was a kit. The build was brutal, since I was a kid and my dad didn't have squat for tools. What I wanted was a Schumacher CAT, but I couldn't afford it. It was the RC Holy Grail to me back then!

RE: When did you build you first kit?
When I started their was no such thing as RTR. Ahhhh, the good ol' days! My first kit I built when I was 6 back in 1987, and it was a Tamiya Lunchbox. Then I moved up to an RC10T in 1991. I still have both of them!! The only RTR I have, and hopefully will ever have to buy, is my MGT 8.0, because AE sucks on that one and doesn't sell it in kit form. I hate RTR's. I'm old school and think that if it doesn't come in a kit it's not worth my time. It's amazing how many people have never built even one kit car nowadays, actually it's really sad.[&o]

RE: When did you build you first kit?
To me it doesn't matter if it a kit or rtr because I take my rtr's apart and reassemble before I run them. I have build two kits and have 4 rtr and just enjoy the hobby. But my first kit was a tamiya formula1 201 tuned chassis this is the only car that has disappointed me. My second kit was a b4.
