Default RE: brushless motors

more kv = more speed, less torque.
less kv = less speed, more torque.

So would a less KV be better in something like a E-MAXX?

definately. If you have to use a 1/10th scale BL motor I heard the VXL motor has better torque compared to the Mamba motors

many* people seem to recommend the VXL motor with the Mamba ESC

I haven't run a brushless yet, just passing on what I've read others say

*edit: sorry, probably shouldn't say "most", so I'll put in "many"

Definitely Monster Max (2200kv) which is rated to a maximum of 6S. The 7700kv would not be good in the E-Maxx, not nearly enough torque.

No a MMM 2200, The 2600 is way to small for a truggy.

Bunch of hit or miss info in this thread. The amount of power developed by a motor is going to be determined by what it can produce without burning up. Larger diameter and longer can sizes are going to be able to move an e-maxx faster. Given that it is a 4wd MT you'll want to run something along the lines of a Mamba Monster Max for an ESC or other 1/8 scale speed controller with a motor that can push it reliably without over heating. A castle creations 2200kv motor will easily move and buggy, truggy, or MT in the 1/10 to 1/8 scale except maybe a Muggy (might need to gear down). a 4S Lipo battery or 2 2S batteries connected in series will have your jaw on the floor if you haven't seen a fast e-maxx before.

And you'll be blowing transmission gears and diffs left and right, so buy spares or look up some stronger parts.

Default RE: brushless motors

the esc i have is the nonsensored with a 6500 motor in a slash its the 100 amp esc . i have to say the only thing i dont like about the esc is the solder connections on the wires to the board are exposed. to make sure they dont short out i put some silicone rubber (ge silicone works nicely) so it gives some protection from shorting out. so far on a 2cell lipo i have no problems and programing is a snap , use either the card supplyed (plug and play) or the computer. did i mention i like it alot [8D] its insane [sm=wink_smile.gif]

click on the link http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Speed-Control

blow up the esc picture and you will see the wires on either side exposed to the weather. the underside where the wires are is a circut board with solder points for the wires, if something hits those points it will short and smoke either the motor or esc. its a no biggy but would be nice if they were protected from the factory

only because the mamba's are a higher KV the lowest mamba is a 4600 which i have, the vxl is a 3500, and to be honest 4600 has tons of tourque with 70% punch control if i'm running tires that have some amount of tread, (which i can't at the moment damn burned out hubs), it'll be nose up in a instant, this is on a 2s lipo on a 6 cell the power is more controlable but all there, you won't be board with a quality 6 cell or a 2s thats a promise, on the 4600 that is,

yes it will still work , as long as you use a 540 brushless and only 3 cell lipo. i have a sc10 with a brushless 380 17 turn motor and it pushes it at 30 mph lol. the only thing i see that may be a problem is the 5mm pinion hole but they sell reducers for them at tower to fit a 3.17mm shaft so its a win win situation wooo hooo .

the 17 turn is a 28-47-17 turn here http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...hless_Inrunner
and the esc is the turnegy 60amp or ez-run60
works great with the dx3.0 too
i got tired of the 12t titans always burning out on the slash and had plenty of 12t cans laying around. i cut the face off the 550 and made it as a mount for the 28mm size motor mount into the tranny using the 550 mounting holes
