RE: Official MONSTER XX Truck Thread
Well its drivable still. Kinda pushing the limits it though.
And yes it goes flying, hit a slight bump its takes off similarly to how the RC's look launching off of ramps at races
Funny thing is out of all the RC's I own the Tamiya buggy gets the most use
Just something about it I find is fun to drive.

I bet that thing is really fun! Think this thing could be made into a Crawler? Maybe with like all Traxxas waterproof electronics so I could do some trail riding/crawling/water bashing with this thing??? Only reason I thought about this is I really want a waterproof scaler, but not for $400 because I'm more into bashing anyways.

might
Crawlers generally (I think) have locked diffs
I'm sure you could lock the diffs and fling a 35t-55t motor in it to crawl with, and it would do fine.
And ya I ran that setup in my buggy last year before I dropped a BL system in it. I submerged the buggy with the traxxas setup a few times. Unlike last year I waterproofed my batteries this year
Only problem I had with the buggy was cramming all that crap under a buggy body. The truck body gave me more than enough room to easily fit it in though
Its actually my snow basher. Last year after a run I'd just throw the buggy in the shower, and hose it down after a run. Actually after like 20 runs in the snow and on a heavily salted street only its one dogbone rusted a little.
Here was how my buggy looked last year. You can see how cramped it was under the body.

RE: Official MONSTER XX Truck Thread
yeah, i'm getting a Bandit VXL and a Bandit roller for Xmas, because I was kinda scared to take on this truck, being that people have said this thing's electronics may not be high quality. although i think after i get some upgrades for my rustler and bandit (lipos, roll cage, 2.4 ghz.) i may buy this thing and try the stock electronics til they fry . i've always kinda wanted a crawler type vehicle with waterproofing so i can mud/crawl. watching "djmedic2008" vids made me wann do this .

Hell I might have just got the one bad one on the shelf (happens alot to me, even 20 years ago when I was a kid the toy would be broken in the box, and would have to go back, or was missing parts)
seeing the ESC fried after 2-3 uses. My radio was also glitching like mad(I opened it up and it was poorly soldered). I read a few reviews and the reviewers didn't have the same issues.
Generally I would have warrantied it, but honestly I didn't give a damn about its electronics seeing I had the intent of slapping the traxxas electronics in it from the get go along with my 2.4ghz radio, because I needed a new winter beater
Lets face it why would I use what came in it if I had way nicer stuff sitting gathering dust.
BTW in the coming weeks(probably the week after xmas if I get time) keep a look out for what I am doing to my stampede

RE: Official MONSTER XX Truck Thread
well i just got back from running it. its alot of fun running just rear wheel drive. the one down side is and amount of loose snow over an inch thick and it loses all traction. im thinking for the time being with the snow im gonna make it 4 wheel drive again and in the spring switch back to rear wheel. this truck is alot of fun though, i deffinately recommend it to others!!

RE: Official MONSTER XX Truck Thread
im not sure. its off topic but if you want a rc vehicle that has insane run times i have a heng long radio controlled walker bulldog tank that i use with the same 3000mah battery and i got an hour and a half run out of it yesterday on the one battery. i ended up getting so cold that i couldnt feel the sticks touching my fingers and called it quits. but 25 minute runs with the 3000mah battery pack arent to shabby. im planning on getting a 4500mah battery for my tank and when i do im gonna run the truck with it also. im guessing i can run the truck for close to 40 minutes with the 4500 in it. im looking at giving the truck a lower gear ratio right now.

I used the 2500mah nimh pack I got with the monster XX in it and my fingers were completely numb and it was still goin strong. Also once slapped a 2S lipo in it and after 20 mins it barely dropped the voltage
I'm attributing it to how the tanks motors are around the same size and 1/24th/1/16th scale car motors, and the gear box's probably take most the strain of the motor.
Also the battery in the box I will say is pretty damn good quality for coming in a RTR. I've bought NiMh packs for $25 that don't hold up as well

is it considered hobby grade and what motor size does it use???
is it considered hobby grade and what motor size does it use???
Motor is about the size of a Traxxas titan 380 (little shorter cause the tanks motors have no fans)
BTW the tanks even though they say hey are 1/16th they are the size of a 1/0th RC truck

RE: Official MONSTER XX Truck Thread
im pretty sure there size 400 motors. like syco said as far as it being hobby grade its a matter of ones personal preference. i consider it to be hobby grade, again as syco said, because of the aftermarket parts support. plus the fact that it has decent sound effects, a smoke generator that makes the tail pipes smoke, an airsoft bb cannon for shooting stuff, and full turret rotation and barrel elevational controls along with it having full driving controls. so with all that said, id say its a hobby grade tank. and at a price of 80 bucks its a steal. i have an extra 30 bucks invested into the 3000 mah battery which is by far the best upgrade i can imagine for it. being able to drive it for an hour and a half non stop is something ive never experience with any other rc before.
