Just wondering what is the toughest most reliable off road 1/8 buggy / truck?

I'd look into something like a Muggy. It has just enough adjustments to keep it interesting, but not so much you have a headache's worth of maintenance to do.

a savage flux will be the toughest, its a MT so not quite a truggy/buggy but the toughest...

then other than that any quality one you'll be set with

the Savage Flux is pretty good, but if you run heavy batteries, and heavy wheels, you'll end up with a very heavy truck thats more likely to break.

that, and the diff gears will commit suicide pretty quickly.

I stripped half the teeth off the diff pinion, upgraded to the "bullet proof" diffs, then I smashed the diff internal gears.

MBX6T, Savage, Jammin X2CRT, Losi LST

Basically, any 1/8 buggy or truggy DESIGNED FOR RACING (not the cheap Chinese knockoff clones) are going to be tougher than you need. 1/8 buggies and truggies are tougher than their monster truck counterparts.
