mamba max

well I haven't been able to go to the hobby shop latley and i was looking on ebay and found a mamba max 4600kv system and i like how i could get deffirent motors to use on the esc. and on 3s because the guy i run with has a Baja 5t with almost nothing stock. so is it as good as the mmp.

The MMP is the newer version to the Mamba Max. The Mamba Max is a great esc .

dont exspect the same ammount of power, adustibility or quality i have two operating mamba max's best esc's ive had a chance to own, 100amps cont. vs 35amps on a good day. you will find that your bl system runs too hot that you'll have to gear lower under 20t at the sacrifice of speed. the 5T will eat that 35amp alive without breaking a sweat,

RE: mamba max

It's a good choice...not the only choice.

We just don't want to see you fry that little 35a speed control your first time out, man. Nothing sucks more.

The 4600 is great...but you may want to hold on a little bit and wait until Castle comes out with the 3600 motor if your truck is still running well as it sits. Get the MM and the 3600.

That being said...Castle has a Clearance sale going on right now.
$150 for an MM and a 4600 [X(]

RE: mamba max

Also, transmission ratio seems to be 2.60:1, same as ThunderbirdJunkie's SC10.

If you wind up with the 4600 (which again, is a GREAT motor) start with an 18t pinion and the stock spur and check temperatures after 5 minutes of running.

RE: mamba max

On tower they have it for 160 but take of 20 for that sale so its 140+10 for shiping and its 150 shiped instead of 174 shiped yay:D. I have a 19tpinion to use so double yay:D

ThunderbirdJunkie 10-08-2010 11:33 AM

RE: mamba max

19 should get you close, but you should really look into picking up one of the 6 packs of Robinson Racing pinions.

Is that the Mamba Max or Mamba Max Pro that's $160 on Tower?

Nevermind, regular MM. Still sweet :D

Invest in a temp gauge, And keep the temps below 175f and its all good.

Doh! Too late.. the motor's already on its way. And that's ok, I have a feeling I may "invest" in the Mamba Max ESC soon.. if supplies last I'll keep the code in mind. ;) Thanks.

i was the first one to tell you that it wouldnt work, and you need 3650 motor not 2848 that would be to small. i run a tacon 3650 (540 sized) 3200KV fastest motor ive ran on 3s

I would get another, proper 540 sized motor. That one you linked, it is a 28mm motor, you want a 36m diameter motor (3650). Look at the model name, it says 2848, suggesting it's a 28x48mm sized 380 type motor, probably not the best, and also the amp rating it can handle, around 30-ish.. not the best, you want something around 60+ amps to get some real good power, if you don't want to be disappointed.

The rest of the stuff is fine. You might want to make sure that lipo will fit in your truck, it is 145mm long, and from my experience, It won't fit in a typical 6-cell battery compartment due to being almost 1/4" too long (unless it's going into a Slash type compartment with the adjustable foam spacer for long/short batteries etc).
