Traxxas brusless motor?

1st post, hello all. Have been away from the hobby for a while. I had a 'Pede yrs ago. I have a Traxxas Grave Digger 'pede and was wanting to upgrade to a brushless motor and esc. Just wanted get some feedback, opinions on the Traxxas Velineon 3500 and the VXL-3s. I want to keep the waterproof-ness if possible, as where I live it seems 365 days a yr. Any thoughts, comments would be apprectiated

You will enjoy the VXL kit if you plan on running 2s and 3s lipo's. The 2s are fun to bash around the yard and normal running the put in the 3s when you want crazy speed and uncontrolable power.

What kind of batteries and charger do you already have? It's easier and cheaper to match up a brushless kit to what you've already got unless you plan on spending alot of money and buying everything at once.

I have Ni-MH batteries 8.4v and 9.6v venom packs. I don't know that the added expense of lipos, and another charger will be worth it for bashing. So you have had experience with the brushless and they're ok?

Yea brushless is the only way to go IMO. Since you have 8.4 and 9.6 batteries already. I would go with the VXL since you want waterproof. Other kits out there for around the same price will run good on that voltage too but I don't think they are waterproof.

If you only had 7.2v packs, I would suggest a kit with a little more kv (rpm's per volt) but the VXL will run good on your packs. You wont be disappointed.

Also, if you can do without the waterproof feature, here is another option for you.

It's green too so will match and look better with your gravedigger body and green accents if that matters to you. Lol

Thanks for the link dan. Do you know if they will bolt straight into the Traxxas motor mounting holes?

Yes, the motors all have universal mounts. They will mount up fine. Once you decide on a motor setup, look in your manual or ask us on here for gearing suggestions.

I live near Seattle so I get rain all the time too. I love my VXL systems, they work great. Good power, can run them in the rain, snow etc, and they've been reliable.

i've had the sidewinder 4600 system in my pede for about 2 weeks now.

coupled with promatch 7 cells the thing is crazy fast. i have it geared 19/86 and it is pretty much wheelie on demand at almost any speed. and that's with "punch" set at 80%!

can't even imagine drive ability with a lipo 3s.

I just went bought and sidwinder too. If I ever need it to be waterproof, I can throw the titan and esc back in. Thanks all for the help...
