pepboys still does.

seriously traxxas, you don't have enough money yet? if only a a more race capable company did that, this would give people initiative to open new tracks, but traxxas is pure bash.

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

When customer's walk into our shop looking for a new RC it seems like 9 out of 10 of them want something from Traxxas. And they're all convicned that they are the best brand. We show them the Losi's but, it doesn't appeal. I agree, Traxxas makes better bashers than racers and their marketing has engrained the brand into the minds of naive newbies. I still see many drivers bringing Slash's to the track on Saturday night. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but they believe their trucks are world class racing vehicles. They always wonder why they never finish above 5th place.

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

same here man, they are ok for fun, but they are not that great or a good value. but people are almost brainwashed by them, I have seen a few 8ight drivers like that too, no other buggy could compete, and thats simply not true.

the slash makes a horrible track car and for the price you could get a team associated RTR brushless with a lipo charger AND battery.

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

I will admit, Traxxas has their marketing down pat. Sponsor NHRA Drag racing, AMA Supercross, and TORCS, and youre going to have a huge influx of people looking at your product. The demos they do at these events are not about how great driving of vehicles they are, but basically just that you can beat the everloving piss out of them, and theyll come back for more. That and their bull**** claims of a stampede doing 35 MPH (with optional esc, brushless motor, and 15 tooth spur gear in the fine print)

Swee! Now I can buy one for the price of two! And not only does best buy not know a lot about electronics, they will be even worse in this hobby. Great idea [&:]

So are they just being sold at Canadian Best Buy stores? I think this is a good thing. Traxxas might pave they way for other good brands, like they did with short course racing.

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

I've seen some Traxxas vehicles in the Jegs catalog. About the same price as most RC specific stores.

funny you should say that. i herd tyco was bought out by mattel back in the late 90's and doesn't exist anymore. maybe we'll get lucky and the same will happen to traxxas.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...n/punching.gif

Yeah Traxxas stuff handles poor on a race track. Only thing good traxxas makes is thier Revo, or other monster truck.
The slash and 4wd slash are piss poor examples of a race vechicle.

wow.thats too funny.we have been using Best Buy's parking lot at the Whitby Ontario location for years now Friday and Saturday nights for bashing our r/c's.quite a coincidence.

So you're the one that gave them the stupid idea lol

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

lol,not me.i dont think its going to put a dent in the LHS's in the area,as their customers are pretty loyal, and most of the racers that attend there dont use Traxxas stuff anyways.

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

Lol I know. They probably saw you out there and the GM was like "I've got a brilliant idea!!..." And it was all downhill from there. From looking at the prices on their site...way the hell overpriced.

bigcam406 08-17-2012 09:42 AM

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

lol.we usually dont start until after store closing at 9pm.alot of the racers stay until dawn.as far as the prices, they're comparable to what our local lhs's sell them for.i thought Walmart would be the first one to jump on the r/c bandwagon....

nope, Nikko is still around and doing well in the toy grade RC market.
i did a little digging. Mattel owns the Tyco brand name. there is still a Tyco RC devision, it's just not very big. only new products i could find with the Tyco name was some RC stuff. everything else (HO cars, trains, etc) that Tyco used to make now has the Mattel name on it, if its even still being made.<br type="_moz" />

I saw Traxxas in an Albuquerque Wal Mart a few years ago. They had a few electric boats (Deep Vee I think), and some electric Stampedes. Haven't seen it since.

How dare a company not stick to their niche market and instead break out into mainstream with sponsorships, advertising and retail deals. Those jerks.

I LOVE IT! :D

traxxass needs to look around for sales help because Hobbytown does not sell traxxass products in volume like they used to..
I know a guy who owns 5 stores now, and he told me his traxxas sales are down over 20% in the last year.. even HH called him to ask why the low orders of traxxass products..

and he gave me the real honest answer as to why [:-]

RE: BestBuy sells Traxxas!

iv herd several of those real honest answers from hobby shop owners and managers over the years.  everything from a mom and pop shop that got screwed over, to shop's that were trying to get support and not receiving any.  to just bad politics.<div>
</div><div>seems they are helpful when dealing directly with customers one on one, they just don't have that same support for there suppliers.</div>
