Which battery for Traxxas Rustler?
 

I just bought a Traxxas Rustler on Ebay. It has a Novak GTB Velociti 5.5R controller/motor. It includes everything but the battery. I am a beginner and am confused on what battery I need to buy... I am thinking of getting a NiMH battey for cost and ease of use...

you will need a lipo NiMh won't last long with BL power
I mean both charge wise, and the pack will probably be junk in a few runs :(

also Lipos cost less then NiMh equivalent
chargers cost less, and the batteries.

hopefully foxy will paste his lipo information post (as I can't remember where it was is)

Thanks. But as far as connectors go, which one do I need? I am not sure which battery connector my system has (with the Novak esc and motor)

we would have to see the picture as any ESC can have aany connector that the prior owner soldered on

also most batteries are sold with generic connectors, and you have to put what you want to use on it

Yep those connectors in the pic are deans....

Don't even bother with nimh with that setup, u will need a lipo and lipo charger

Thanks! Does it look like a good buy for $150? Is there any lipo batteries/chargers you reccomend? I am new to RC, but can't wait to get started!

Yeah it's a good buy, it's what I would pay. It's funny only just last week had a Discusion about rustler prices... Let's just say some ppl have funny ideas on how much second hand 2wd traxxas cars go for and are worth. IMO they are in the $100-$200 price range depending on condition and upgrades, I think the one u have might have been in the upper end of the price range but u were luckily to score it in the mid range... Good stuff
I aim for 1/4-1/3 of retail buying and selling.

I'm a fan of he IMAX B6

The IMAX B6A6 has a built in power supply and its a digital charger and can charge 99% of the battery's out there, it has functions and modes that u might of never seen before...

As for lipos.... Get the cheapest u can... They work a treat

This is a very good start...I've been using these with great success, I'm 99% sure it will fit...
