best bang for the buck offroad vehicle

I'm looking for the best bang for the buck off road vehicle that's built good, and fast. Any suggestions? Something in the $300 range ready to run.

thanks

What kind of off road are you looking to do? For low grass and lots of dirt and some road stuff I'd go with a stadium truck. They will be faster and handle better. For a good fun time go with a Short Course truck (a little slower and heaver to start with). If you want to be able to do some good off roading in most conditions get a monster truck.

My only suggestion is the E-firestorm. Its a great stadium truck. strong as hell too.

x2 really does depend on the kind of off-roading you want to do.

When I was looking for a cheap waterproof off-roader for where I live I picked up a Stampede XL-5 as I wanted the ground clearance for when I hit the local trails.

The track is a dirt track with jumps and all that so what brand and model do you think would be the best?

thunder tiger phoenix XT brushless.
$200 rtr.
Add a 2s lipo/lipo charger for $100 on hobbypartz.com
Install a larger pinion gear and get 35 or more mph.
The phoenix is a rebranded team associated T3.

Or get a ECX torment ($190 rtr) and install a cheap brushless system ($90) and sell the stock battery ($20) and buy a 2s lipo/charger.
