TB-02R - which motor should I get??

I have been out of rc cars for years, but I decided to buy a new car, a TB-02R, with a Skyline GTR body [8D]. I am a novice at best, but I am trying to decide on a good motor that is fast but does not compromise too much on torque. I also don't want the run time too short. I was thinking maybe anywhere between a 15T and a 19T motor, but there are just SOOO many motors out there.

Also, anyone know long a 15T motor would last with a 2400mah NiCd battery versus a 19T, just an estimate obviously? I haven't found any threads that relate runtimes with different turn motors and different capacity batteries.

Thx.

RE: Another motor question....

I would estimate a 15 turn motor will run 15/19 of the time as a 19 turn. (a fraction) get it?

An example may be that if the 19 turn ran for 9.5 minutes the 15 turn may run for 7.5 minutes.

Yeah, fractions, got it. Is this something you just came up with or do you have anything to back your estimate? I'm just asking because if I use your formula, a 6T motor would last just 3 minutes. That $ux.

I just invented it myself to answer your question, only an estimate. 6 turn may be 5 minutes. There are many other variables too.

Would a Novak GTB 5.5 brushless do okay with this setup?

I am thinking about this one rather than the 4.5 because I'd rather have a little more torque than all out speed.

Any estimate how fast it would go with this motor?

Thx.

Depending on gearing 45mph+ would not be hard I don't think, as long as you use decent batts.

I would have to say that is plenty fast for me. [sm=eek.gif]

RE: TB-02R - which motor should I get??

I have heard of the 5.5R going 50+ mph in a ST (well people say they do it, I have no true speeds), so if they can do that, I imagine if you gear it prtty hard, and run with some really nice matched packs, 55mph shouldn't be out of your reach.

I saw a video of a 4.5R doing 63mph on GPS in a FT TC4.
