General purpose ESC

Hey everyone, I would just like some suggestions for a basic ESC. I have an old Tamiya Blackfoot that still has the old rotary speed control. I would really like to upgrade this to an ECS. Does anyone have any good suggestions for and ESC? I am looking for one that has revers, upgradability as far as new motors in the future, and relatively cheap price. I don't need the fanciest one out there, just one that will do what I want it to. Thanks for you input....

my first was a lrp runner plus by team associated. will set you back about 40 bucks and will handle from a 17 turn to a 36 and has reverse in it with an 8 second fail safe and one button set up. i never had any problems with mine except for keeping the heat sinks on it, but never got hot enough without them to notice anyways.

hey

ive had a lot of luck with the duratrax sprint. an EXCELLENT esc for the money. you can run down to a 20 turn(recommendation) and duratrax stands by their products. the lrp runner is OK, my friend has one, just seems to get hott fast, get on tower hobbies and check them both out, they should be around 40 bucks.

The LRP RUnner is very good and as WildTxn says, the only problem is the heatsink coming off now and then. And since it handles around 16-17T, it handles most mods and gives enough speed.

Since you are from the States, I think they sell for around $50 bucks, but here in Australia the price is twice that.

Anywayz, this is a basic ESC and gives good performances. Sometimes though it does stop due to overheating, but that could be the result of the weather here downunder (hot as hell) or that the controller is just too plain old.

Hope this helps bro. :D
