RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Looking for brushed motor recommendation. I am currently racing my HT onroad stock. In stock class the truck is dominating so I plan to bump up to mod. I plan on foam tires but the motor is questionable. Currently the stock 15t does pretty well but in mod class I think it will be a shade too slow. Allot of the mod guys are running brushless but it seems they are carrying way too much speed for our small track. In stock class I am turning 19 laps while the mod guys are turning 18-20 laps. If I do not have to spend the money on brushless that would be great, so what is a good brushed motor that the stock esc will drive and is faster than the stocker? I am running 2s lipo.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Here is what I ran before I went brushless, worked well with the stock esc but being brushed you will have to rebuild it every 12 runs or so

Reedy 15T double quad mag.

made a nice difference in power.

Thanks. It is as I figured. To be competitive brushed I will end up spending more money in the long run then if I buy the brushless setup up front.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Yes you are 100% right, Go brushless maybe a 17.5T would be good.

it wasnt to bad but ya i wouldnt want to run it to long like that. i made about 6 or 7 speed runs and it seemed to handle it fine. it has more power but the aerodynamics arnt there for it to go any faster. unless someone has any ideas

redfisher1974 07-19-2010 08:29 PM

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

have not heard of anyone going any faster then that with a storm, think thats about the limit without major changes.

If you want to attempt any speed runs with a touring car go with a shaft driven one. Try a Tamiya Evo V or a Team Associated TC4:D
