what would be a good kit to build?

well...i am kinda sick of RTR's and how there so easy and just so common...

so i think i kinda wanna build either a buggy or st :)

ive never build a kit before so im kinda new to the whole building idea.

its mainly gonna be for racing at tracks and maybe some driving in front of my house. (my rustler isnt really a racer haha)

kinda wanna stick to something that takes stick packs but saddle pack i guess i could get.

i am pretty knowlagible about R/C cars and how things work.

im jsut thinking of asking this for x mas so i have plenty of time to ponder on what i wanna get.

im open to ALL SUGGESTIONS!

Thanks,
Brian

Get the Tamiya Durga, I got it as my first kit, its a nice build that ends up with a very slick looking car!
As long as you have all the right tools, the build is long and enjoyable, building it you will see this car has potential to win built into it.

I purchased 4xTamiya 850 ball bearings (5x8x2.5) for the steering arms and a 16x2 Brushed motor, its all cheap electronics as I am am waiting on a brushless for it, that said, it goes fast, and handles awesome!

Edit : I've since re wired it, that shot was taken after I finished building it, I was just testing,

sweet! i kinda like kits now because you find out how EVERYTHING WORKS. oh ya...how can the belt system stand up to a 2s lipo brushless and a track haha?

RE: what would be a good kit to build?

Belts hold up fine to brushless and lipo no problem.

What about the xxxcr? You can get it for $210 shipped, Losi kits are very easy to build as I built my xxxt mf2 easily and that was my 1st build. They are better than the b4 on the track and they take stick/SXS batteries. and great parts support at ocrc.

RE: what would be a good kit to build?

ahhh you guys make it so hard!! hahaha but thanks though. it makes me look around the market. but chris rc i heard alot of losi cars just push in the coners and there steering is horrible...thats what ive heard but i personally never drove one so i dont really have an opion

How was the Expo thing though?

The Hedgehog 10-04-2008 09:53 PM

RE: what would be a good kit to build?

Bad steering and pushing in corners are definitely not a trait of losi cars. +1 on the Losi.

RE: what would be a good kit to build?

ya thats what i figured..i cant really see any race buggy with bad steering lol...then if it did they wouldnt make that model or they would fix it

RE: what would be a good kit to build?

Honestly if you just wanna build a nice kit I would recommend any of the Tamiya kits. Even the low end TL-01 series are lots of fun to build. Tamiya has probably the best instructions, they make you build everything. I have several Tamiyas and I must say I really enjoyed everyone from the TL-01 up to my TCT-1 which was a mother of a long build :) But you will learn to appreciate the real quality of Tamiyas. They make tanks. I have races both my mini cooper and tl-01 in the TCS races and as have never broken a piece. Which is amazing when you see them run. Another cool thing about them are you can get kits from under $100 and up to $500+. All of them are pretty challenging to build. When you open those boxes it's almost over whelming! I really think out of all my builds my TXT-1 was the most over whelming. Check it out.

I was in the same boat as you and bought a durga, just finished today. also purchased a trf415msxx, cant wait for that badboy to come in. The durga build was pretty damn enjoyable, and had zero philip head problems like others on the forum. putting the diff together was a test of my patience, but other than that, everything went smooth.
