Venom 6.5t vs Velineon
I think I broke my Castle 5700kv motor and am looking for a good substitute. My LHS has a Velineon motor for $70 and a Venom 6.5t for $65. Both properly geared which one will be faster? Anybody have any info on the wattage the two motors put out? Thanks!

I wouldnt get a venom.... You will be better off going with the VXL motor.

ORIGINAL: deanR I wouldnt get a venom.... You will be better off going with the VXL motor. I'm also wondering if anyone's run 3s lipo with the Velineon motor and a Sidewinder ESC before. Anyone? |

Instead of the Venom 6.5 have you considered the Novak 6.5? Those motors I almost guarantee you nothing will break.

i have a vxl motor i will sell you for $45 shipped. has no bullet connectors because it was soldered to a mamba esc. there are no issues with this motor. it was used for about 2 months in a touring car.

The VXl with a siedwinder esc on 3s lipo should be fine. Ive been running my VXL on 3s for the past year with no problems.

Of the two it sounds like the VXL motor is the way to go especially if I want to ever go 3s lipo. I put my truck back together and the Castle motor appears to be working fine now. I think what I was experiencing was good old fashioned cogging from a mostly dead battery. [sm=confused.gif]

The Venom brushless motors are great, I am racing with a 13.5T now on my tight track. The Venom will give you more power at 2 cell or 1 nimh pack by a longshot.

Thanks for the update on the Venom stuff, glad to hear somebody is having a good experience, the whole setup seems pretty nice with the small programmer. Lugging the laptop to the track for my Sidewinder ESC is cool but sometimes I wish it had a smaller programmer.
Thankfully the 5700kv is alive and well, I was back out today with it. I think I was just experiencing cogging from a mostly dead battery the other day. |
