Ebay find!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I won this last night for $25. IS it worth $25 in my eyes yes. It looks like a nice project/restore car. So what do you guys think. It needs esc/reciever.
I have a 75mhz am controller so all i need is a am reciever and esc.

It does look like a good deal. Nice find!

However, with the 18T pinion and monster truck tires, it is going to be overgeared and you may fry the poor little 540 motor if it isn't already. I'd recommend also getting a set of Grasshopper or Hornet wheels somewhere too.

The Mighty Bull is going to be a far better monster truck than this anyway, so you may as well save the tires as spares and put this back to buggy status. Also, he didn't mention it, but you'll definitely want to put ball bearings in it (ebay 'grasshopper bearing' > $10-15) if it doesn't have them already. I can't imagine upgrading shocks without doing bearings too.

It is one of those deals where even if it turns out you don't like the car, you'll have more than $25 worth of parts. The Grasshopper makes an OK street basher, and a great car to let a friend drive, since they're nearly indestructible.

Kewl great to know. I have a cobra venom 24 motor that i might put in it when it gets here. That should be able to handle those tire for now right?

I don't know. With a hotter motor, it will be an even higher load on motor. I wouldn't put the venom 24 in yet until you see if the 540 gets roasted. ;)

The buggy wheels/tires are expensive on ebay:

You might do better to find another Grasshopper or Hornet rolling chassis just for the wheels. It might cost about the same as buying the wheels & tires separately.

That, or maybe go to the Classifieds and offer a trade for the correct ones.

It seems like it will work, but the "300 A" rating seems wildly optimistic. If it is good for down to a 23T motor, that is nowhere NEAR 300 A.

This inconsistency matches up with the fact that it ships from Hong Kong for $15 all up.

It might work, but it may be a piece of garbage too. Proceed with caution.

Will do. For this project i might just buy one that is well known brand.

The Titan will turn those tires without over heating. I've run it on a converted hornet with the stock 18T pinion and it works pretty well. The XL5 ESC is also a good choice for these cars and they can be had for around $30. One word of warning is the quality of the titan motors is sometimes hit or miss..

RE: Ebay find!!!

I had heard about those motors. Some say they are good others say there junk. I guess it is hit miss motors. I am going to try and restore it to original condition with updated shocks.

RE: Ebay find!!!

With regards to the Titan 550 12T motors, I think there are just a lot of variables.

Mine has been lasting quite well, but I guess I'm gentle on it:

- I've never run it with the fast 23T pinion
- I'm never at full throttle for more than a few seconds at a time
- I keep the bushings clean and oiled
- I've never run it with more than a 6 cell NiMH pack. (I know John runs big 2S LiPos all the time...)
- When I'm doing a lot of running in grass, especially at slower speeds, I keep an eye on the case temp, and it never gets too hot.

Running 7 cell or 2S, slamming to full throttle from a full stop and things like that will cook them a bit faster.

This may be perfect with those tires.........its a 550 and its stock in the HPI Brama buggy.............

This is one i run for torque applications and big tires............its a great motor, it will suprise you with the speed with those tires.

I'd recommend the saturn 27t personally the 35 is INSANELY slow (it does have a buttload of torque though).
I got a saturn 27t in my elec converted nitro MT1 52t spur 14t pinion with dirt hawgs on it and the motor gets a little warm after running it on full throttle for 5 mins straight. Will be honest used the 35t originally in the setup and it didn't even get warm.

RE: Ebay find!!!

Good...........no heat from the 35t Saturn. As you said, it has loads of torque.......so does the Integy i posted. You could use all that torque and gear up just a tad...............but the rig already has big tires(geared up already), it should do well, and still have some speed.
