RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX
MC picked it up from A-main for a really good price. A-main is discontinuing the Thunder Tiger line of RC but the reason is Tower will be carrying the full line of Thunder Tiger. I think Hobbic just got the distributing rights for Thunder Tiger so that's why Tower will have everything. A-main still has some with the drift setup and led light kit.

RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX
Thanks everyone .
Airmayle is right, Picked it up from amain for like $140.00 shipped with a couple other items. Real good price considering .
Will cut the posts down before i run it. Thinking about tearing it down and taking some pics of the internals if anyone is interested. Beforei get it alldirty anyway.
Having a few moments to look at it it seems to have a solid axle in the front. From my experience makes corner entry a little tougher but makes for very aggresive exits
The tires have a nice feel for a rtr and should be fun for general bashing plus they look pretty good.

RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX
Ok ran it for the first time today using a ripper 40a esc and 3900kv motor. Geared 26/72 everything stayed nice and cool with room to gear up if you wanted to. That was on 2s.
Tires seemed ok. Put some gumballs on and it was better but they wont last long at this pace
The hpi xpatterns may be a better tire for pavement running.
Any input would be appreciated concerning a good tire for pavement driving.
The car:
Does have a locked diff in the front.
Rear diff looks the same as the xb/xt . It also unloads to quickly so gonna try about 3k fluid and see if that helps.
I like it. Will proably run it in a vta class this winter. Just for grins anyway.
Have to get rid of those fixed camber links.

Is that a stock class or mod. ?
reason why I ask is a track not too far from me runs indoor VTA and
I thought it would be a good class to start out in. I have an older TC3
I think they require an older model body too, like the challenger or camaro.

The TC3 is a great car for vta racing.

is it better than a tamiya tt01
is it better than a tamiya tt01
Here is whatI will say about it.
Rear diffs are sealed and made of metal.
Front diff is a solid axle but you can drop a metal diff from the rear into it if you want. Im actually liking the solid axle for now.
Everything rides on bearings.
Accepts standard 48p/64p gearing
Adjustible droop
The 17t motor is rebuidable.
Steel cv axles with captured pins.
The wheels bolt on. A feature I like.
I would say that it will makea much better racer than a tt01 and out of the box has better parts / features than most tt01 kits
The parts are made of better quality plastic compared to the tt01 .
Does not have the part support that a tamiya does.

RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX
Well got to run the car on the track today. Outdoor asphault.
Used a ez-run 35amp esc and 3900kv motor geared 28/72 and it had plenty of torque. used 18 degree timing and it would scream down the straight
Car is actually pretty fast and handles really nice for a mostly stock set up.
Changed the shock fluid to 40wt all around, ride height was bones level and added 5k diff fluid for the rear some shock angle changes along with the high grip ttr tires. Which are like the stock ones on the tc4.
I never new a solid axle in the front end made such a diffrence on braking. Wonder what it would do for a 4x4 offroad buggy ?
So far very happy with it.

RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX
nice so if u put the timing up, you get more speed? and probally more heat. I run 3s on my ezrun 9t for bashing because 2s is to slow, cant be bothered getting pinions so if i put 2s and timing on max would it go as fast as my 3s?

RE: Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX
Proably not going to see the same kind of speed from a 2s battery as you do a 3s no matter what timing and gearing you use.
Im using the 3900kv motor from my sparrowhawk xxb, Its made by novatech im pretty sure.
Im seeing temperatures around 100degrees on the esc and 115 on the motor after a 20 minute run so it could be geared up some more or proably advance the timing some for more speed.
But to answer your question you do get more speed / heat from advancing the timing.

I agree it looks like a tc3 and a few other shaft driven cars lol.
Another video I shot today. Have a few othersfrom a tad warmer weather that need some editing.
