Default Hpi rs4 sport 3

The E10's replacement ?

The RS4 Sport 3 is the all-new on-road chassis from HPI Racing! It features a completely sealed and highly efficient shaft drivetrain, which means the gears and drivetrain are locked away and blasting through stones and dirt won't slow you down.

In collaboration with fifteen52, the first RS4 Sport 3 features the classic BMW M3 E30, the M-model that spawned a legion of imitators. A set of replica fifteen52 TurboMac wheels on high grip HPI rubber completes the perfect Euro Tuner ready-to-run package

I like how the gears are sealed away and easily accessible through the bottom of the chassis. Also note no phillips hardware

Looks like Tower will have the new RS4 in June, 259.99 brushed 319.99 brushless. Will this finally kill off the E10 ?

Well definitely not an E10 replacement the gears are made of metal

Curious about the steering though as it seems to go under where the prop shaft goes, but its sealed so it shouldn't be able to, and on top of that the shaft is removable so it couldn't go under...
Could just be the picture angle though

Now this could be a winner if they use decent plastic for the chassis unlike the E10 line.

Steering does appear to go through the drive shaft tunnel. Some shiny bits shown in this picture

with metal gears and the monocoque arms this chassis screams rally conversion

ahh those pics are better then the top to show it.

hmm as for rally it might be great for rally... if HPI don't make it out of the same brittle plastic that the E10 was made of which would crack a chassis on stock power on pavement with no bumps

Default Front dogbone problems

How are you guys fixing the issue where the front dogbones pop out while turning ? I have tried p-3 o rings to get rid of play but that still does not work . I feel that the dogbones are way to short ... Is anybody else havin this issue?

I just purchased my rs4 today as well... and yeah i immediately had the same issue. the front right dogbone came out and it was not pretty. i was under full throttle when i noticed the right front a-arm hop and lifted the entire car. the fact being that i just purchased the damn car 2 hours prior i took it back to hobbytown where i purchased it for an amazing deal and the tech actually ran through it with me. we did the same thing though. we put 1 extra o-ring in the front differential bucket and 1 in the wheel hub bucket and the dogbone is actually really tight in there now and seems to be working but there is no play whatsoever in the dogbone. i worry the pressure over time will actually wear on the parts prematurely. but i contacted HPI. awaiting a response.

tech at hobbytown stated that there are no upgrade parts available for it yet. is that true?

had the same issue, added one extra o-ring to the wheel side cup and problem solved.

CV's are on the way (no eta) but the car is what a month old ? Have not got to run mine much because of the rain in the mid-west but I have managed to pick up a 10.5t brushless motor and Hobbywing speed control that should liven things up.

I purchased the falken brushless model so I had no need to purchase an upgraded motor. But are you having any issues with the steering servo loosing connection or not being able to use reverse?

gonna be honest.. I have only ran 2 battery packs through mine and didn't have any issues besides tossing a dogbone. I have a Blitz flux that came with the same ESC/motor combo as the Falken and never had issues..but the radio was god awful. If you have another radio to try that as it might be the problem.

Yeah it might be the radio. I'll try my other one and see if that is any better

So? any updates on this? I got the subaru version for a VTA class, and i'm looking for set ups for carpet. i got the hpi vintage rims and tires and a firebird body. not impressed with the plastic upper turnbuckles. they hold but some adjustablity would have been nice out of the box. just a few laps around the dining room so far and no issues with the dog bones yet, but i got some orings on the side just in case. I'm waiting for the 21.5 esc combo from hobbyking.

I have been looking at this car recently to replace my HPI E10 which is slowly falling apart. Would you say that this car is definitely worth purchasing in terms of having good quality parts, runs well, etc?

So far the main problem with it is the dog bones are too short , causing them to fall out. Some orings help but it will need to be replace with longer 46mm ones or the cvd kit. Some guys at the rctech forum figured out the tamiya 46mm cvd kit for the ta05, ta06, tb Evo 5, WILL fit.

Seems to be a small sacrifice to make if the rest of the car is good? The enclosed drive shaft is definitely a plus.

I ordered the exotek aluminum spur hub and drive shaft to drop some weight, the sport3 weighs in a little heavy for our VTA. The guys at the LHS helped me eyeball some Spurs since the Hpi high speed set isn't due out for awhile. I picked up a 72t Kimbrough spur for a Tc3, to test fit and it fits as long as you don't mind running 2 screws instead of 4. I let the guys at the LHS know because there's a bunch of guys waiting on the high speed set.
Another problem area for some seems to be the plastic turnbuckles, they keep the car from tracking straight so upgrading them would be a good idea. I'm test fitting the few extras I have before ordering a Lunsford set.

Well I had some old sprint2/rs4 turnbuckles and RPM ball cups, and found enough ball studs in my parts lot to set me up. It took a lot of the slop out of the steering. It's the first race day of the year today at the track, I was hoping to race but got call in to work tonite, I guess I'll make the next race.

Also Yeahracing is making some hop ups for the sport3. You can see them on their Facebook page.

I got my 21.5 Trackstar combo and an Exotek aluminum shaft and hub installed. Of course I forgot to get a male deans plug so I can't even test it. Lol
