Default F1 1/8 scale Kyosho - how to make faster

I was able to get my Vintage Kyosho FW14 1/8 scale F1 car going again.
However it will only go 33 mph according to the SkyRC GPS Speed meter. I made a few runs today and that was top speed.

How can I get it to go faster?

The car has a lot of torque and the tires spin really easy. I had to replace all the factory foam tires and wheels since two wheels broke and the
foam tires were cracking. I still have not been able to find

wider tires for the rear. The only ones close to the stock width that I could find were from a Tamiya off-road buggy.

The setup is as follows:
3800KV Brushless Motor (Unknown Brand)
Hobbywing EZrun Max 10 ESC
2S 7.4V 6200Mah LiPO battery

23-T Pinion
55-T Spur

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks

How are your temps?

Chances are you can probably gear up:
What gearing for upgraded electronics?

Temps are fine. Motor never runs hot. Sometimes it feels warm but never hot
Problem is I can't find gears.

Installed gears are:
Spur Gear is Traxxas #8358 55T 48P
Pinion is Traxxas # 2423 23T 48P

I would not recommend making any changes until you get a temp gun first, without that data you will risk damaging your electronics. If you are limited on gearing, then it's possible to run it on 3S to get more power, just be sure to make sure your motor doesn't go past 160F to be safe

The temp gun is good advice from Bill .
Go to the Traxxas webste and search "pinion gear" . Thats if you want to use a Traxxas gear . They make them up to 27T or maybe 29T . Robinson Racing make good gears too ! But dont go too big all at once ( temps ! ) and you might not have the adjustment in the motor mount .
Gears only give smallish gains . 2 teeth about 10% .
Going to 3S gives you 50% more motor speed ( in theory ) but you might have to gear down if temps get too high .
With any gears , just make sure you order the correct pitch and it suits the motor shaft size also !
